Where do you rank United's squad compared to the others and what league position should Ole achieve to still be considered as remaining as manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You won't get any consensus on this.

Has anyone said he should go if we fall short next season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, Scholay said this in the posts above

If we don't win a trophy, he should get his p45
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahh, I missed that.

He is right in that all managers would have minimum targets to achieve, it’s just that we don’t all agree on what they should be.

For example, if we were relegated this season, would it be unreasonable to want Ole replaced?

So OGS should manage a club the size of Manchester United for what 5 seasons and not deliver a trophy you imbecile?? Due to the manner we have lost finals and been knocked out of competitions without these two quality players, yes, I said it he should go if he fails to land at least the Carling cup for christ sake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Calm down fella, i was just answering his question.

I'm actually in some kind of argeement with you. If we only just fall short of a big trophy while playing great football... I wouldn't be clambering for his p45... But if we are 20+ points behind top, crash out of the CL again and clearly fail the other trophies while not really progressing our style... I'd probably say it is time for him to move on.

City still ahead, but not much difference between us, Lfc and Chelsea.

I expect a title challenge. League position doesn't mean that much, as I'd rather finish 3rd a couple of points behind 1st, than finish 2nd ten points behind.

Yeah, I think it’s a battle with Liverpool and Chelsea for second again this season unless the City squad are hit with a plague.

Just hope it’s good entertaining football and we take the title challenge into April / May.

I believe our squad is second best in the league, behind City's. Chelsea not very far behind, and if they were to somehow get Haaland, I might put them ahead of us.

So depending on how far ahead City still are squad wise, then finishing second is what you'd expect.I understand you'd want a close fought title race, but if City's squad is far superior then that may not happen, but if you think both squads are close then Ole should have United in a title fight.

Not sure if I'm in the minority, but as much as I'd love us to win trophies and get back to the good ol' days under SAF, I primarily watch football to be entertained. Jose won a couple of trophies in his time here, and we were fecking dire - what's the point in bragging rights if you're dull as hell.

It's the first time since SAF that I feel like we're somewhat close to what the club used to be.

I want to see exciting football and good performances. If we can do that with the players we have, success should follow.

Even if we don’t buy any more midfielders, getting Pereira back is like a new signing.

I think a fair target is 85+ points. That should be enough to challenge in most seasons, but I'd maybe stop short of saying we have to challenge as if City or Liverpool decide to go on freakish 20-game winning streaks again we aren't a good enough side to keep up (and yes, part of that is due to them being far better coached sides)

You're right though!

It really doesn't take much more than a run of a few good games to get everyone back on side with a player.

I'd say Ole's managing an upwards trajectory very nicely. 'Top 4 is the minimum', he get top 4 in the last two seasons. 'Closer to the winners', he gets closer to the winners. 'Actually get to a final', he actually gets to a final. 'Right wing and CB need addressing', he addresses RW and CB.

I think the problem is that people wanted all this done the minute he walked through the door.

I think our squad and Chelsea's is fairly evenly matched. The scary thing is, City can put out two teams just as good as either.

Liverpool shouldn't be written off either.

I feel like Jones is back in training in preparation to be back in training. Like some kind of inception scenario.

If we're judging Solskjaer on the five years he hasn't yet managed, I think it's fair that we also credit him with the trophies he didn't win in this timeframe, including the 2017 Europa League.
