very disappointing .....

Its somewhat disappointing, however I'm pretty confident the team can be stable in the Premier league again. We certainly don't look like improving on last season's finish as it stands. Still need 2 or 3 additions imo.

Are starting line up at full strength should be Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Cooper, Firpo, Phillips, Raphinha, Klich, Rodrigo, Harrison and Bamford with Struijk, Koch, Dallas, Roberts, Forshaw, Shackleton, Poveda and Costa, I would suggest we are certainly strong enough to start the season. There will be a week or two to further strengthen before the transfer window ends, no need to worry.
My concern is GK, though Meslier is audaciously talented and has all the cockiness of youth, what happens should he slump, I have never seen KK play but he is only 20, merge him Meslier, Caprile and Van Heuval into one and you still don't have a proper grown up keeper, it's a huge gamble.

I think defensively we are ok. I feel we are missing some quality going forwards. Someone who you can bring off the bench to change a game.

Yeah loans don't count although we have technically spent money on his signature. The starting 11 has improved but the squad is weaker having lost Alioski and Pablo, even Berra was a safe option at full back no longer available.

a good chunck of the first half of last season we had
the most porious defense in the league. by the end of the season we were one of the best.
so with that in mind dont see how we can't be better than last year.
i would have like to have brought in a few more players but is really necessary? losing allioski is a bigger blow than some on here think but we have improved on his starting position in my opinion.
as it stands i see us challenging top six. it's going to be a great season.

none of that last paragraph makes any sense whatsoever

Firpo and Harrison, both very good signings. Still going to be a couple more to come. Not sure what you were expecting, when everything coming out of the club said that we would be spending less this window, after spending heavily last time. Seems like whining for the sake of it, which wouldn't be out of character.

Llorente and Koch fit from the start will be akin to new signings, and hopefully with Forshaw back and Rodrigo maintaining fitness then that will be like four.

Yangel Herrera being hinted at now. I think we all know that
whoever we sign between now and the opener, MB won't be putting them in the starting line-up. Still feeling relaxed and good
about where we are.

I think whats a bit frustrating is Orta said our business would be done by 1st July. Its now nearly August and we are still a few players short.

I suspect that there are mitigating factors behind this. Orta isn't in control of everything, and sometimes things will happen that he just can't factor into plans like that. JKA decision is probably part of that, or players choosing to go elsewhere like Gallagher. Then there is Casilla leaving and the need to get a new GK in.

£13m Firpo
£11m Harrison
£1.5m Bate
? McGurk
? Miller

Spent £27m?

Nominal fees in for Casey and Mujica only

Threat of JKA and legal fees possibly running potential amount to £25m now.

McGurk reported around 200k. Miller reported about a mill.

We finished 9th last year. It was our first year back. If we maintain that this season then I will be happy, and with the squad we have now then I think we should. Any further reinforcements will be a bonus.

Upgraded in the position we needed upgrading. That's the important thing.

Not to sound like a negative a*se, but, if we stay up next season I'll be happy as a pig in the proverbial. Anything above that will be gravy (and massively welcome).

Think 9th-11th and will be a success. We have potential to finish above, but anything above will be a great achievement.

Kammy’s criticising lack of signings but at the same time questioning the need to sign a winger on the transfer rumours thread. Makes for an interesting combination of moans. Especially when combined with his heavy criticism of Costa. I guess there’s no pleasing some folk.

We will sign two more players (after the go) and probably spend around £30m on the pair. Will be the biggest squad we have had under Bielsa and if anything will not be leaving enough gaps for opportunities for the u23s.

Anyone else feeling Greenwood & Gelhardt will be
in the first team before season's end? Both (to me)
seem to have a ton of skill. I can watch Greenwood
hit free kicks all day long.

just cos you don't agree with me does mean i am right or wrong, just my opinion lad

consolidation is fine, how ever myself would like us to progress & to do that we must sign real quality

I know that. I don’t understand your position though. You’re moaning we haven’t signed enough players on one thread and saying be we don’t need signings on another.

One of the greatest fallacies of modern times is people thinking that something being "their opinion" means that it can't also be right or wrong to think that way. You're contradicting yourself, for a start.

Bottom line is we don’t know the finances at the club.
Been a lot of money lost to covid
Millions of bonuses paid out to players and ex owners
Jka threat of £25m

Easy to sit here and say spend some money but I don’t see many clubs spending loads at present?
