Thing with Messi is that you are immediately £52m out of pocket on his wages alone.

£500k per week after tax, so £1m per week including tax.. eye watering level of money for a 34 year old.

I know he's no ordinary 34 year old, but his body is human and just as susceptible to injury as any other mid-late 30s footballer. Any club wanting to sign him will be losing out on a lot of money each year without any guarantee it'll work out on and off the pitch
