If they can do a better job, let them get on with it.
Taliban: Private media can continue to be free and independent
"I would like to assure the media that we are committed to the media within our cultural frameworks", Mujahid says.
"Private media can continue to be free and independent.
"Islam is very important in our country... Therefore Islamic values should be taken into account when it comes to the media, to developing your programmes.
"Impartiality of the media is very important, they can critique our work so that we can improve.
"But the media should not work against us", he adds.

How many of them actually want help?
After spending all that time and money to try and help their army/government something doesn't add up with it just crumbling like that.
I'm not really well versed about the situation and was off the grid all weekend when it fell apart so just trying to get my head around it now.

From what I understand we have removed all air support, all mechanical support (so fixing war machinery, etc), all surveillance and all training so they have been turned over pretty quickly.

Yeah, that one's definitely not true.
We don't have any right to police the situation though
Were they not provided with more than just training and arming the Afghan troops on the ground?
Is it actually going to be any different to what they have in Saudi Arabia?
Why is no one asking who funded the Taliban. How did they get the weapons to take over?

Basically, drugs, thievery and the russians
Yeah I think smack is a good earner for them.
Lots of stories about the russians sending in "private" military contractors to help the Taliban.
They just love causing chaos dont they

Taliban 1.0 was sadistically brutal.
Let's see how this version pans out.

Replace Islam with "Patriotism" and Islamic with "British", and that could have come straight from Boris's desk.
I saw picture of them at a fair ground , it looked like they were enjoying themselves on the bumper cars & merry go round .

The US have accused them, they flatly deny it. Make your own mind up I guess.
Russia/the soviets have always had a massive interest in maintaining a friendly Afghanistan for one reason or another though (they sent weapons to help them fight us in the Anglo-Afghan wars). It's a really interesting relationship they've had, right up to them invading when they thought the regime would start to favour the west. Worth reading up on.
I don't know the full reasoning but when the British drew up the borders for what is now Pakistan they made sure it didn't have a border with Russia by ceding a strip of land to Afghanistan.

I'm just dubious when the US blame the Russians. Just like they blame Russia for Syria.
For all we know the US signed a deal to have control over the opium drugs trade in return they would leave and let the Taliban take over.
What strikes me is that there are gonna be a lot of insurgents looking for work with nobody left to right. Taliban 2.0 in the near future to oust Taliban 1.0 with a few minor changes like porridge on Sundays.
