Adama Traoré - Divides opinion

The thing about Adama Traoré is that even when he doesn't bring the final product, he still occupies players, and teams need to make special plans in order to deal with him.

I could see him freeing up so much space for both Kane and Son and bringing the best out of them too.

Additionally, he is at the age where he will start to put things together and that final / end product will improve.

For me it is a good move, so long as the price is right. Wolves will want 40m but we should be trying to get him at about 30/35m.

Son/Bergwijn, Kane/(Son), Lucas/Gil

looking at that too me we only need another CF or another Son type player to contribute more goals to the team.

Lucas and Bergwijn dont look like leaving so, with all of the above in thought this is why i dont understand this signing, money mentioned is absurd too for what goal output he will provide.

Anyone who is unsure if he can unleash a shot (I know his finishing/end product is inconsistent at best), check out his goal against us at the Molineux in 19/20 (Vertonghen last minute winner for us). Unreal strike!

Find this all very odd given Nuno would regularly bench him. Felt like it he had better option then he would never start, only last season after we had a load of injuries did he play regularly.

Well why isn’t he working on his shooting in training... Son & Kane stay behind after training to work on finishing... so should he!!

Should have gone for Demarai Gray, better signing

Great input as always David

Cheaper, more end product, Everton got a bargain

Maybe we're going to play him RWB?

Thought we could have had a squad fit for a back 3 back in June but now the window is coming to a close, we are far from fitting a 343 now. one RWB who has been really bad for us

midfield imbalance

only 1 recognised striker at the club

Lucas and Bergwijn become surplus really.

I am slowly getting swayed that he would be a good squad option. We still would need a playmaker and a genuine back up number 9 though.

I think he is more of an athlete than a footballer. But I would 100 per cent take him at Spurs. Spurs have too many wishy washy players that are easily brushed off the ball. He certainly offers something different. Leave the scoring to Kane and Son, and he can just bully defenders.

The guy hasn't scored more than 5 goals as a winger in any of his seasons. That is piish! Why is that suddenly going to change at Spurs? Even Lamela managed 11 goals in one season with us.

Why can't we just get someone who is going to really improve us who knows where the back of the net is? He is nothing like Antonio. Antonio has an end product.

If he was coming in as a bit of a bargain, maybe. But I don't see Wolves letting him go for cheap. Surely he'd be 40m plus? As a winger with poor output it just doesn't work for me. If Nuno wants him as a RWB, yeah. Still expensive but he could have that position for years.

Nuno knows the guy. So if we buy Traore it will be because Nuno thinks he can turn him into a finisher.
He gave Tanganga a real problem. Only reservation I have is about his character, about which I know nothing.
Is he easy to work with?
Is he a team player?
Does he take well to being managed and told what to do?
Those are the questions I would have about Traore.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't worry about his character, he seems to be a humble and popular guy around the squad and rest assured Nuno wouldn't touch him if he had any reservations in that regard.

Dribbley winger with no end product is so far down our list of priorities. It'd be fun but its so unnecessary

well then you shouldnt be swayed as we will unlikely sign either of those positions you mention, and have no chance if we spunk a load on a 'squad option'

He had an excellent game against Spurs at the weekend, and tore our defence to shreds for an hour. They couldn`t handle him. Luckily he has a problem with the finishing. He is a real handful, and I would sooner have him in my team, than have to face him.

As for you team, you were excellent yesterday, and with a finisher, you should have no problem beating plenty of teams this season.

When you put it like that he's a decent Lamela replacement.

Hmm he is a strange one. Always plays so well against us, a-bit like Sissoko did at Newcastle. He is great at what he does. That’s said with little end product I wouldn’t pay over £40m for him.

If we do sell Kane and the club see Son as Kane’s replacement. Thus signing Traore to replace Son it could be a long season. Especially if Son gets injured for any length of time. Just where would the goals come from?!?

He’ll open up more space for Kane & son ( or any of the other attackers on the pitch ) as teams will need to double up on him.

Martinez was the we tried player we get every summer

It’s a yes from me, people talk about his end product but that isn’t the be all and end all. What made Hazard so brilliant was everything he did on the ball - his end product was just a bonus.

If you are using Adama to bring the ball from midfield into the final third then his function isn’t too dissimilar to what Dembele did for us - just on the wing.

Adding to that I also think with better players his output becomes better (crosses more likely to convert to assists etc) and he’d create so much space for Kane (if here) and Son because you have to double up on him.

Hengy posted almost identical the last part of my comment without me reading

I think at least 2/3 times he got the ball in a position that he provided a high enough quality pass/cross to set up his team for a good chance. The jiminez shot from just outside the box being the best
