Good player and would be a good signing.

World class he is not though.

I agree playing him in a three with Pogba and Bruno probably isn't too wise but if Pogba was on the left then no problem.

Can't say I watch Atletico but from what I've read he's primarily a b2b who's form has dropped a lot in recent years. He's also being played mainly out of position because he doesn't quite fit into Simeone's current system.

However good he might be we don't really need another b2b (even if he is an upgrade on what we currently have) and looks like another VDB transfer where a highly rated player we don't really need is available. Unless Ole actually wants to play McFred type players in the middle instead of a DM which I personally think we're crying out for.

I heard we're offering a loan with option to buy? If that's true and there's no obligation to buy it might be worth trying if we can't get an actual DM in this summer.

Arsenal did a number on you guys with Sanchez

They actually got that one right or they got lucky

I'm all for giving players time to settle and everyone's different but I just don't see how VDB fits sadly. He was bought as Bruno's understudy but plays nothing like him or the team as a whole really. On top of that Bruno is never rested so he is never really given an opportunity in that position while he's usually ignored when other midfield roles are available. Even on the weekend we brought on Lingard (who the club want to sell) over him.

Looks more like a very good player was available for a good price because his move to Real collapsed and Woodward couldn't resist even if he didn't really fit. Hope I'm wrong and the lad has some success as the club because he seems a really neat little player from the bits I saw at Ajax.

Bit a shambles weve left it so late when hes clearly not in the plans

Ruben Neves is going to cost 30-35m. We don't have any money left over it seems without selling players. And we can't sell our unwanted players due to the obscene wages they earn hence why we just loan them out.

Ruben Neves is no better than McFred.

Actually I probably wouldn't swap either of them for him - and I dont really rate Fred.

Seems we have no realistic way of getting a new midfielder... Maybe Ole should push McT to become the sole DM?
