I think most United supporters (rightly) have Ronaldo down as one of our best players ever but not quite a legend on the level of Best, Law, Charlton, Rooney, Giggs, Cantona etc as he left us at his peak.
If he goes to City I doubt he’ll be booed unless he celebrates a goal against us.
Yes. Ronaldo for me was an integral part of our dominance during the rise of Oils FC. Going to them would be worse than what Tevez did.
Not at all tbh.
I get why he'd go there - I don't really expect him to be too fussed about the rivalry. Unlike Tevez I think he'd still maintain a level of respect for United.
I’d exclude Rooney from the above list given he tried to - and managed to - pull our pants down twice with a comprehensive display of disloyalty.
United fans still love Ronaldo because he left for love - his late father willing him to play for Real - and gave everything beforehand. He didn’t leave for money or disrespectfully in any way and always spoke extremely highly of us and SAF after he left. I can imagine that topping La Liga very much is the boyhood dream for the young kids out there.
For me, whilst I’ve never booed anyone or anything in my life, him going to City really would put a bitter taste in my mouth and I think he would be booed by a large portion of fans at games. I must admit, though, from going over the scenario in my head, I think my personal affection for him is sacrosanct and even going to City wouldn’t change that
It's like Vieira going to City. Or Lampard going to City. Their career is already finished when they go there. Let's judge Ronaldo on his career, not his retirement at city who can't attract players during their actual careers.
Would Ronaldo do it? Or would he have the respect for United not to go to City?

At this point I’d imagine he’s so desperate to leave Juventus he’d go anywhere that he can still compete with Messi for the highest honours. I’m sure he’d hate to see Messi have the fairytale final few years of his career winning CL titles at PSG while Ronaldo is stuck at an average Juventus side.

I reckon it’s going to depend on if United want him
Surely they would be interested if he was available ….even if it’s just a season
If they don’t want him then I think he will say sod it and sign for city
I’d like to see him back for a swan song for a year
Hate to see him go to PSG
He would be dead to me if he went there.

Yeah, I cannot believe he is destined to be benched at Juve. Surely he wont accept that that is how he is going to end his career. How the fack is Ronaldo not first choice.
He wouldn't sign for City at all. What garbage papertalk that is.

I watched quite a few Juventus games last season and it was clear that Ronaldo wants everything played through him and while when it works it’s great, when it doesn’t it is to the detriment of the team as a whole. I think Allegri realises that and doesn’t really want Ronaldo there being a bottleneck to the team ethic.
That isn’t an attack on Ronaldo, just the type of player he’s become where individual talent alone isn’t enough to be worth the trouble it causes to a team. For that reason I’m dubious he would go to the antithesis of a Ronaldo team in Pep’s City unless Pep has a plan to combat that.

Some of our fans would be near suicidal. These people are the kind of imbecile that used to scream at Duran Duran concerts and should be slapped senseless.

Long list of United legends who ended up at City going back to Billy Meredith (google him). It hasn't tarnished their standing in United's folklore.
The difference today is that previously going to City was like signing up to a seniors citizen's coach trip and tea party. But now that City are PLs major Player it would be interesting to see how an ex United legend as much as Ronny would be received in a Blue shirt if he was trying to do to United exactly what we used to do to them.
