Harry Kane saying he will not be leaving Spurs this summer

posted on 25/8/21

And that may mean they don’t have the funds to buy Traore

posted on 25/8/21

As I said in the OP, Man U have to sell to buy and I suspect Spurs are in the same position. Sadly, Spurs don't have any players to sell that anyone wants so basically they're facked.

If United don't buy or sell anyone else this week they will have a 35 man squad. One can only imagine the wage bill for that lot!

To have a squad that big is no use to anyone. What it will breed is a group of up to ten players who will likely not even train with the first team, let alone play for them. Very quickly their only interest will be seeing their wages arriving in the bank and that inevitably sours the atmosphere in the dressing room

They finished 2nd last season, pretty good for a sour dressing room.

The squad keeps growing and Ole has been trying and failing to offload players. Think you’ll see them try to get a lot of departures on loan in the next week if they can’t sell to get it down to a sensible level. Trouble with the big clubs is that they pay wages that tempts players to stay for money reasons only. Heard Paul Jones was getting some stick for that very reason

Not sure how many of those 35 players are in the senior squad and how many are under 21.

All clubs have to register their 25 man senior squad by September 1st, I believe. There could be some loan moves to get them off the wage list.

Watched the full Spurs match I recorded when I got back from NC last night.

Very impressed with the performance of all the players and bodes well for the future, methinks. As with the Leicester match, very unlucky to lose.

28 man squad.

4 Goalies
9 Defenders
8 Midfielders
7 Forwards

3 of them don't need to be registered.

That's as maybe but the Utd web page shows 35 players and whether registered in the playing squad or not, they all have to be paid which was the point I was making. I'm sure some have already gone out on loan and more will probably follow this week.
BTW why does any club need 4 senior goalkeepers?

They do what they want.

Unfortunately we start this game at least a goal down with Mike Dean officiating and Atwell on VAR.

Is a bit of a strange one.

The idea I had was that United are just covering themselves in the GK department if there is a bit of a covid outbreak.

Newcastle got caught in pre-season and had to use a couple of 16/17 yr olds.

Wonder if one of the keepers (Lee Grant probably) trains away from the 1st team group in this case. If one of the keepers got covid and the others had to isolate due to close contact then there would still be one senior GK available?

Ridiculous draw for the next round. This is a competition that tends to pass Wolves fans by, but not this year. Be another big crowd and probably a TV game

Heaven knows how big a squad clubs would need to cover all the possible implications of a covid outbreak

I think I’d start with 4 GK’s.

Pleased to see this is a 4.30 kick off. 8.30am here so I won't be dragging ass all day.

Heard they were gonna put extra effort in for mine and Goldis birthday as well.

Guaranteed Cinci, I had a word with Bruno and he said that they would do just that

posted on 26/8/21

Bruno has confirmed that Boly is likely to be ready to play against Utd. I suspect he might stick with the same back 3 though for the last game before the international break

posted on 26/8/21

I'd keep Boly on the bench, even he is fit enough. The back three have done well up until now.
