Wolves v United

The proposals to move away from 343 last season were foolhardy because we didn’t have the players in defence or attack to make a 4 man back line work.

That has certainly changed now as we have Boly, Kilman, Mosquera plus maybe another to make a solid central defence. And we now have a host of players to make a 4231 attacking line up work, even before Neto returns. Already feeling like a revolution under Bruno, and there are a few players that might not be a regular part of the first team set up for much longer. It’s going to be an interesting ride this season for sure

Never been quite so anti a back 3 or 5 as some of you on here, but can see that that might be the way we end up going. If so, where does Coady fit into that? I really can't see him not playing and genuinely hope that he stays at the heart of the team.

Boly, Kilman, Mosquera, and then Saiss and Coady, let alone a possible new guy. There are going to be one or two unsettled players.

I love Coady but I would think his days are numbered and I think it was DJ that said this window was probably the best window to get full value for him. I would agree with that but of course it isn't happening now. Wouldn't be a huge surprise if he left in January.

I don't mind us staying with a three if we play Ait-Nouri ahead of Marcal for a start and have a more forward thinking mid which Sanches may be.

I wonder if it might be Boly that ends up surplus to requirements. He has been huge for us in more ways than one, but the last season and a half or so he never seemed to quite return to his best after injuries.

Boly has been in and out of the team with hamstring injuries and covid and it’s worrying that the hamstring issue still hasn’t gone away. He needs a run free of injury for sure but he’s too good a defender to throw under the bus at the moment in my opinion.

And yet the way Kilman has started the season he could be easily become more important than Boly, and Mosquera looked very good in his early games. With another defender still a possibility then Boly has real competition. And that’s where we need to get to. 4 good centre backs, not two

Having gone through a season which was ruined because we didn’t have a big enough squad, we can’t solve that and then get worried that some players aren’t going to play every week. We need a squad of at least 20 premier league players and that means every single week 9 of them won’t start

Reading an article written on August 21 saying Liverpool and Barcelona were interested in Sanches but that they had dropped out following the player getting injured. Wolves are looking to step in and sign him despite that injury. And he is expected to be fit by the end of September

I know as a midfielder , he's not expected to be a 20 goal a season guy but Sanches has only scored 12 goals in his *entire career*, so lets hope if it comes off that he can contribute positively in other ways.

Bournemouth hoping to take MGW on loan for the season

Kilman has been very good, also Semedo and Marcal, Coady could be viewed as the weak link defensively due to lack of pace -balls over the top for example can cause him problems, don’t like these rumours about Traore hiring Mendes to go to Spurs, changed my view now watching live games- he literally puts you on the edge of your seat and while before was ambivalent about him going, now really want to keep him

Adama Traore not expected to leave today - would take a massive offer (about £50m) from Tottenham or anyone else to get the 25yo winger. Renato Sanches loan currently at deadlock over club-to-club terms & rated at 50/50 @TheAthleticUK #WWFC #DeadlineDay

Ideally, we get Sanches right on the stroke of the deadline, giving no time for Neves or anyone else to leave.

apparently sanches is now a 50/50

MGW to Sheffield United, he'll do well there I think, but I think its a mistake letting him go unless Sanches is absolutely nailed on. Even then would rather have the strength in depth.

looks like sanches may be off the table

Richard Hobbs, Wolves Football Fancast:

"Wolves transfer business has not as yet reflected what this team has been crying out for for the past 18 months. Re-signing Rayan Ait-Nouri to a permanent deal and bringing in Trincao on loan got Wolves to a solid start to the window. Wolves have also changed goalkeeper, surprise surprise, he's Portuguese, in the form of Jose Sa.

"However, a lack of strengthening and improving the spine of the team is what has seen the club club from European challengers to mid-table.

"The club have cleared the decks with the departures of Cutrone and Mir, but the manager and natives are restless that they haven’t as yet been replaced.

"The signing of Hwang Hee-Chan hopefully bolsters our attacking options and start converting the plethora of chances Wolves have create."

Sky are saying that the Sanches deal is off. If that's the case letting MGW go is nuts. But hey, 9 hours or so to go, that's over 0.4% of the transfer window left, anything could happen (and probably won't).

Not looking good is it?

Into the final eight hours. Critical to our club going forward this. Nothing and big questions need to be asked and I am sure Bruno will not be happy at all which isn't a good start for a new manager.

Looking like it's more out than in again?

MGW to Sheffield United seems reckless in the extreme if we're not bringing anybody in.

Won't lose my shat yet but yeah if that is the end result today then it is pretty ridiculous.
