Plus 3 against Luxembourg, 4 against Yugoslavia. If you look at Greaves England scoring record his goals seemed to come in bunches ie hitting certain teams with 3 or 4 goals, rather than scoring lower amounts across more games.

The reality is 20 of his goals came in friendlies and 19 came in the home countries games against Wales, Scotland and N Ireland. That’s 39 of his 44. Only 5 were scored in true competitive international games with 3 of them being a hat trick against Yugoslavia in a World Cup qualifier. Kane has scored way more in competitive games including at tournament football than Greaves ever did.

Kane has scored ten tournament goals (6 WC and 4 Euros) which is the joint most with Lineker, as well as 15 European qualifier goals and 9 WC qualifier goals. He is 13 behind Rooney having played 63 games compared to Rooney’s 120.

I think he’s done brilliantly for England and it’s pathetic really how oppo fans try to denigrate his record just because he plays for spurs - they’d love him at their clubs.

He will score 60+ I reckon.

Yeah I think he'll get there quite comfortably personally. Between qualifiers, nations leagues and major tournaments theres more than enough games for him to beat it. Bearing in mind hes now playing in an england side that should really be hitting at least the semis in the next 2 major tournaments hes going to have plenty of caps to come.

Fair play to him, Ive always said the same, the guys absolute top notch, dont let the fact Im a scot and a liverpool fan get in the way of that.

He’ll beat it comfortably, and it could stand for a very long time.

Tbf I wouldn't bet against Kane getting the remaining goals needed purely through pens, dunno why you're all getting so wound up about it

Easily, barring injuries.

That said I thought Owen was going to smash Charlton's record. Injuries of course scuppered his chances.
Did Owen score any pens btw?

Just the one.

Rooney scored 7, Shearer scored 6, Lampard scored 9. Lineker scored 4.

I felt sorry for Bamford, no service at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Must admit I agree. He made some great runs but got nothing.

I would have loved to see him stay on when Grealish and Mount came on just to see if he could get some service. I also think he would have stuck that left footer away that Kane somehow managed to hit the post with.

I'm sure Southgate knows what he's capable of - he's been at Elland Road enough times now.

As for Kane - he will get the goals he needs I'm sure. Whatever club you support you know he's a class striker.

It would have made more sense to bring Grealish and Mount on 15 minutes earlier to see how Bamford would have dealt with a set up suited to Kane.

It wasn't like the game was in the balance at the time.

I'll have to stop agreeing with you at some point

This is not the occasion though

Another goal for Harry. He’ll soon set a new record which will not be touched for generations. 👏

To be fair he was poor tonight but the goal was world class.

He and Sterling were both off their game.

Still should have won though. Poor defending for their goal and we had some tired legs out there at the end.

Ref was pants though!
