Red Flags and Concerns

Personally I don't think the defence is the issue so much anymore.

We just lack ballers. You could stick prime King and Woodgate at the back and we'd struggle to keep the ball and dominate games.

Until the likes of Dnombele and GLC, may be even Gil, start to get more time on the pitch and the FBs are given bit more licence to attack, we will play with the handbrake on.

And this is my issue. I know everyone is waxing lyrical about Sanchez/ Dier, but I just don’t trust them as far as I can throw them. Fans are sitting there hoping Sanchez and Dier are fit. Have we become that pi*^ poor where we yearn the return of these 2 clowns ? I don’t give a f** if they kept 3 clean sheets. They are both a pair of clowns that will eventually get found out. Not one of them makes the 1st 11 in any of the other top teams. I just hope too god Romero ends up being the player we hope. If we have too endure Sanchez and Dier all season, we might as well give up the season now.

I think people are hoping they’re available because based on the evidence so far this season, they are best we’ve got for this weekend.

I don’t think there’s much value in comparing players to last season. New manager, clean slate and all that. I don’t think they are the long term answer but, right now, I’d take them for the next game.

And that was my point mate. The “best” we got available is Sanchez and Dier. That’s all I need too know about where we are heading as a club. I ask everyone this question. Would either Sanchez or Dier get into the 1st 11 of the top 6 sides of last season ? I would say no.

Dier needs to de-bulk like Lukaku has, his mobility has fallen off a cliff over his time at Spurs.

Sanchez meh, I said way back when Poch was here I didn’t rate him at all - no balance or coordination, doesn’t read the game brilliantly and lacks leadership qualities. Also not physically all that strong for a CB.

Rodon looks to have promise, Romero you have to have faith in at 50 million quid and hope the club haven’t dropped a gonad on him, but let’s not forget Sanchez himself cost £42m so money is no guarantee of quality where we’re concerned. Usually the opposite in fact.

Tanganga I though played well up until he lost his head. I don’t like young players being used as utility men, it harms their careers long term. He or the coaches need to settle on his best position and give him the chance to master it. Jacks of all trades are rarely successful players. Tanganga and Romero would be my choice to have a go at forming a CB partnership with.

Having said that, you could add Rodon in to make a three. I don’t know what Nuno is playing at with his tactics. His successes at Wolves were built off of wing backs attacking at pace with a back 3 sat in. He seems to want to play the same countering style here, but with a different system. You’ve got Royal, Reggie, Sess all capable of playing as wing backs, and even Doherty has always looked better in that role. Why try it with a flat back four and workmanlike midfield? It just turns into hoofball instead.

I was going to suggest something similar.

CFC are making a great success of a back 3/5. But they have had no qualms in dropping the likes of Pulisic, Mount, Ziyech, Odoi.

Its a formation where the width is from the wing backs so doesnt really need "wingers". It doesnt really suit Son, Lucas, Berwign and with your selection leaves us short in CM.

Chelsea play Havertz and often Mount, narrower, who do drop back in and help out..

I think the CM pairing would be better as PEH & GLC, and then Ndombele and Son playing off Kane, but not hugging the wing but coming inside more and mixing this up with their wing backs, so they over lap and also underlap.

Arent the S. Americans all missing the European game due to self isolation?

I always hated player haters but I have to admit I am considering sending Winks a polite but empassioned note asking him to GTFO.

He's out there rejecting moves to stay with us. Enough already.

When the manager Levy finally got was about the tenth he tried.....you know pretty much what's going to happen.

The question is....are the wheels going to come off now for Nuno.......and when will Levy be looking for number eleven!

We have scored 3 goals in 4 games and not looked like scoring many in any game. The clean sheets are a positive, but the lack of creativity is a huge worry. Hopefully Nuno is building from the back, sort out the defence and then look to improve forward play.

One thing is for sure, any more performances and team selections like against Palace and the fans will be on Nuno`s back, even though the biggest problem we have is Levy and ENIC.

It MUST BE (he says hopefully) that our more creative players have not been available with NDombele not ready and GLC delayed back to pre-season and now self isolating.

I keep thinking Winks can do a job but he cant control a midfield or our tempo.

Skipp is PEH light. A squad player IMO.

Dele cannot be expected to make us tick in the middle of the park because thas not really his game and he cannot do it alone. All our other attackers are more direct and pacey rather than visionary and guile.

We have to rememeber that we are awork in progress. We were never going to totally revamp teh squad in one go. We have Sarr coming next season. Very strongly linked with Kessie who is free next summer (may be a cheap January deal to be done) and were very much in the market for another quality striker.

This is more the vision of Paratici than Nuno/Levy and is not a quick fix.

Before you all lose your rag that I'm a Gooner - hear me out.

From an outside perspective it feels like this is an overreaction to the first loss of the season. New Managers with their backroom staff obviously require time to implement their ideas and tactics so it is unfair to judge him so quickly.

Not sure if he's the right fella for you lot to challenge top 4 but what is clear is that he is thoroughly decent bloke who you'd hope the Team will rally around and actually want to play for. You get the feeling that nuno won't be ostracising anyone like Jose did with dele, rose and others so at least your Team unity and morale should be better than last season.

Little steps but give the geezer a chance - at least until Xmas before writing him off.

I'd agree but the style has been concerning. It seems like nothing changed expect the manager is not a

But time needs to be given and we have not had all the players available to us so hopefully the more attack minded ones will come in and make a difference.
