Think its been confirmed that VAR didn't get involved? Klopp did, though. Probably what swung it. That and the fact we are Leeds.

Definitely unfair as Son's red card on Gomes was overturned

posted on 15/9/21

Everyone, including ex players and the player injured himself, said it should be overturned, just the idiots that run the football that don't see any sense. Technically, he did lunge from behind and broke and opposing players leg so ......

Klopp had nothing to do with the football association upholding a red card.

Klopp got the player sent off in the first place

Should have been sent to the stands for his histrionics.

Well, no. Technically he dislocated an ankle, and jumped in from an acute side angle.

They very rarely overturn a decision, as they don't want to undermine their incompetent referees.

surely var would have looked at it in the back ground, had plenty of time & did not over turn, imo then the fa wouldn't over rule the ref or var......embarrassing

Grow up, FFS, you are worse than Bitter Billy on the Spurs board.

Lickle Leeds are being punished just cos we're Leeds.

I think football may not be the sport for you. In fact, I think sport in any form may be the wrong choice for you as there will always be an authority to go against your view on how things should be.

Acute side angle lol, he was behind him when he lunged albeit marginally to the side, plus his trailing leg was directly behind Elliotts injured leg. Should have been overturned but can understand why they haven't

Used to like Klopp but he has gone down in my opinion recently. He's getting like Wenger always complaining

It is a pity. I feel for him. He's show more class than most associated with Liverpool around the issue.

Having read many of your comments on this subject this is pretty rich to say the least.

They were never going to overturn this, I said it before. It does not matter that he didn't intend to injure the player, or that Elliot, great man he has shown himself to be, thinks it wasn't a red. The laws of the game state that you mustn't put another player at risk, and that tackle did, by 0.5 cm, but it did!

Unfortunately a slightly mistimed tackle or leg position can mean that what is normally a clean or fair tackle or at least attempt becomes dangerous. Nobody wants football to be non-contact but nobody wants to see players with bad injuries.

Let's hope Elliott makes a full and speedy recovery because he has been living up to his potential and looks like a great player in the making. Let's also accept Struijk's red but not make him out to be a great devil because he's not.

No surprise, at all, with this decision. I don't agree with it - didn't think it was a red at the time, whatever the laws say, and still don't now. Unfortunate outcome from what is supposed to be a contact sport.

I think Elliott has been excellent since, credit to the guy. Unfortunately the authorities have there own view and I just didn't expect them to drift from it.

Didn't think it was right for Klopp to enter the field of play on Sunday, especially to get into the refs face, but i do understand - clearly a bad injury to one of his players.

Biggest thing to come out of this is seeing what a class individual Elliott is. Massive respect for him. He's handled this with absolute class and professionalism.

And he's right, it wasn't a malicious tackle with intent
to harm. Neither was it a red. However, Elliott's did suffer an horrendous injury. But, his reaction has also helped Struijk, another young player, who was gutted by the result of his tackle, handle the aftermath.

I think we all hope Elliott makes a swift and full recovery.
I'm pulling for the lad. Exceptional pro.

The Athletic understands that referee Craig Pawson told the FA that the decision to issue the red card was his, despite him failing to award a foul initially.

Seeing an incident and regarding it as fair play, playing on with no advantage to Liverpool and then deciding it's a red card doesn't make any sense. At least not without checking the replay.

Fair tackle and a very unfortunate injury for me.
