Our defensive shape

We've just hired a coach from Chelsea who must have first hand knowledge of that setup. Maybe give him more responsibility than just set pieces.

Is this the first time I have seen you critiquing Ole?

What am I missing? I mean it's not done in secret, it's there on the pitch every week.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The missing thing is that the defensive shape isn't only about the defence. It's about the shape of the whole team, and you can't completely remodel your defensive shape without completely remodel your team's tactics and formation as a whole.

That's not to say we shouldn't be learning from teams that play better football than us!

Or just hire a manager that knows what he's doing without having to watch Chelsea do it first.

Ole's got the wrong coaching staff. On Paper - it looks okay. Old and new coaches, but they are not the right coaches, and unless Ole is ignoring their advice - which I think he's not - their advice is consistently wrong. Ole seems adept at setting up a team, but not at making changes during the course of a match. If we had a coach that was excellent in that department - we could be filling up the trophy cabinet. Easily said - of course, but I think this is what is needed to avoid being second best time after time.

Yes and no. I don't like criticising him because, taken à whole I think he's done a good job. Though I have questioned decisions. But I don't like seeing inferior teams running through us, which happens even when we win sometimes.
I put it down to personnel, Lindelof not being a good partner to Harry. I hoped when Varane came things would change, and it's still possible they will.
But we should never be too proud to learn, and TT has made things better for Chelsea by sorting their defence.

But then we would lose Ole's good things. Out of interest why do you keep using emojis? Are you very young?

I would rate him a 5.5/10 overall. He has done good with regards to the non-football aspects like developing good culture and generally being likeable and stabilizing after Jose's disastrous reign (where he won 2 trophies in 2.5 years).

As far as footballing matters go I would rate him no more than 4/10 and that is me being generous since he has got a few high profile victories (PSG away twice, City etc). But apart from that he has been a huge disappointment.

He has had what 2.5 years now closing in on 3 years to deliver meaningful impact and has utterly failed. We still get bossed around by minnows regularly (in fact more often than not) and our high profile wins are usually smash and grab as opposed to controlled wins

The straw that broke the camels back was the EL Final. I was Ole out then. You can't lose the final in a way we did and expect fans to support. I don't think we will win a single trophy under Ole (even the EFL/ FA cup).

Yes we have personnel issues for example our midfield being championship level but that still does not excuse us getting run ragged by Wolves, Soton, Young Boys in his 4th season. Ole out for sure. Hopefully he steps down on his own accord as opposed to getting the sack.

If City or Chelsea were reduced to 10 men against young boys then I would expect them both to still dominate possession
Utd don’t seem to have the capability as a team to look after the ball but is that coaching or individuals not good enough

We may not have the best individuals across the pitch but we definitely have a collection of high quality individuals who should not be getting run over by minnows week after week.

The buck stops at coaching. Period.

Higher than a five for me.
Third and second is not to be sneezed at. And they weren't flukes. Plus a final, albeit disappointing.
But I don't know but he seems to get things wrong in crunch matches.
Over thinking it, too timid, I don't know. But it needs to change.
Definitely not Ole out, but could be at the seasons end.

He won't be given time till season end. If we get knocked out of CL it'll be bye bye for him by December regardless of our league position.

Chelsea, Liverpool look far more improved than last season and City are City so they will be up there. He has to deliver a trophy at any cost regardless of league position (barring winning the league of course) else it's goodbye.

The cries for his head are already out in full force on twitter and reddit. It's hard to ignore such huge social media outrage.

If we end up still being top of the league at Christmas, but happen to get knocked out - do you think he'll be sacked? I suspect not.

I also just don't think we'll get knocked out of the CL in the groups to be honest.

Well I don't read tw.@tter and reddit, but I guess it changes match to match regardless.
I don't think he'll go before season end barring à catastrophe.

If we get knocked out in CL group stages which is my worst fear (although reduced due to the draw between Atalanta and Villareal), he will have to go regardless of league position. I don't think we will be top of the league in December honestly since PL opposition have figured out how to counter our tactics.

City will mostly run with the league and Liverpool have their entire central defense intact this season and Chelsea are European Champions under a vastly superior manager as opposed to Lampard (who ran his course). Leicester have improved a lot too.

The only way Ole should be in the job if we are in the CL, FA, EFL cup by December and are top or a couple of points away from top. Everything else and he has to go and give way to a new manager the winter window to change the squad

There are thousands if not tens of thousands of upvotes/ retweets on reddit/ twitter calling for OleOut.
Compared to last season the number of OleInners have reduced drastically on social media.

He'd have to be well of the top four pace and out of the CL for him to be sacked mid season I reckon. Utd stick by their managers longer than most.

Still. Ronaldo has never won the Europa so good opportunity for him to complete the set.

That's a bit harsh, the Norwegian league and Cardiff are a little better than non league.
