He is a mirror of the team. In transition and adapting to a new position. You cannot question his work rate at the moment and was one of best players in the first three matches.
I have been his biggest critic the last couple of seasons but the game has passed him by in terms of him being an attacker. He used to play CM when he was younger and reverting back to that position.
Against weaker opposition he will play better but time for fans to accept he is playing in a new position and we cannot expect top drawer performances overnight. He will get better. There has definately been a change of attitude in him since Jose left.

Why don't you use stats to back up your argument instead of bias. Dele got 1 prem assist last season. 1 (one) for an attacking mid. You do realise all the other players you mentioned have been more productive in assists and goals over the last year and half. Even Skipp scored more for Norwich.
Even if you give add Dele's penalty...he is still sub par to all of our starting midfielders. ALL. Name me one midfielder that starts that has scored or assisted less than Dele. Bergwijn, Lucas, Ndombele, Hojbjerg (winks and lo celso are not regular starters).

I agree with you Billy. If people are expecting loads of goals and assists like the old Dele they will be dissapointed. It was clear from pre season he is being asked to play in a deeper role. Give him time.

I think we just stick with Ndombele, Lo Celso (playing where he played when he won Copa) and Hojbjerg
Dele should only be deployed next to Kane or Son in a narrow forward line.
We need to go back to Dele pushed up behind Kane so that when he drops Dele can run into the space - that is what he is good at and how he got to 50 Prem goals younger than any other player ever.
What we lose by doing that is A) some width - but who cares when we can’t cross anyway
B) Dele won’t defend
You then need a deep lying creative midfielder - Eriksen basically, a guy we never had cover for and have never seemingly even tried to replace - Ndombele isn’t fit to lace his boots from what we have seen. Put Skipp and PEH in the middle to do the donkey work.
Do that and we will be much more entertaining and will carry real goal threat again. It won’t win the league or CL but it could win the Euro conference/league cup and get us pushing the top 4 again.
Also, someone needs to tell Kane he is not at Spurs as a favour to us, he earns millions and needs to start showing his quality again otherwise no one will stump up the money next summer either.

Yeah i agree.
Yesterday he put a proper shift in. Did some decent stuff with the ball but overall i think there is not the partnerships developed in the team and the patterns of play when on a slower build up. SO often a player is made to look good by the movement of others. This isnt kids football where the best players are the ones that can run past everyone. Dele needs people around him that are on the same wave length and better movement and attacking patterns of play need to be coached into this team.
Football moves on very quickly and whereas in late Poch era, teams would defend in numbers against us and frustrate us as we struggled for ideas to break them down, now we get hard pressed and hassled into making a decision. In that split second decision making you need options and if there are none the ball goes backwards as we often see. Interplay and movement is needed to improve this team and Dele would flourish in a team like that. It was notable yesterday how Jorginho and Kovacic were always available but when they received the ball it was quickly moved on, positively, while the movement ahead of them was constant, players always looking for space and expectant of receiving the ball.
We showed some good play at times, but not enough and hopefully more time will see this develop and we'll see more from the likes of Dele, GLC and NDombele.

Someone won’t get Haaland and if he gets back on with things he will score 20 plus this season again - players that can do that can be counted on one hand
I believe Lo Celso played well, in the role beside Holjberg previously. He gets stuck in, tackles & can dribble with the ball... just pick up too many injuries...
So with Lucas hopefully returning next weekend, I think we should try this line up:

The worry about Alli is that it's not about fitness. The guy covers more ground than any other player each game. For some weird reason he's just lost that ability or instinct to arrive in the box at the right time. Tactically there have been big changes in the last couple of years though. We no longer control games. We no longer hold a high line and play most of our football in the opposition half. That has a dramatic effect on Alli's starting position when we regain possession. If he's working his socks off and he's even so much as 10 yards deeper than he would have been before, that changes the timing of when he makes it into the box. Poch knew how to get the best out of him but let's be honest, his form was dipping long before Jose came in so it's not just a managerial change that caused this. I don't really get it. He wouldn't be the first player to show great promise at an early age and then drift into oblivion. Normally it's injuries, like Michael Owen, that cause it, but sometimes players lose that hunger. Those David Bentley types that just begin to care less. DB always said that when football became more professional and less fun, he lost interest. I can understand that. Some people might have the talent but not the drive to be the best all the time. I'm sure all of us have had moments in our professional lives where we've taken the foot off the pedal a bit. Footballers are no exception. I think Alli might be one of those types. He needs to feel a certain way to play a certain way.
It's a shame but there's no point in selling him now, at his lowest value. It's far better to wait to see if he can rediscover form before pulling the trigger.

He longer plays in the same position as he did under Poch, he is being utilised differently, I am surprised some fans can see this.
There are far less productive players in our squad who escape criticism, such as Hojberg, Skipp, Bergwjin, Lucas, and then you have the waste of £80m that is Ndombele and Lo Celso, who can not even complete 90 mins when they eventually get on the pitch.

Dele offers zilch as a starter, as a midfielder and even a shadow striker.
It's sad to see how much he has declined. He was amazing playing in the midfield for MK Dons vs Man U before we signed him. His touch and ball shielding is getting worse also.

Bergwjin - who has proved jack shiete in his time with Spurs and can not score for toffee.
Gil - a young unproven player with zero PL experience.
Lo Celso - who has done fack all since he has been at Spurs and is never fit.
Ndombele - who can not complete even 70 minutes of a game and can`t even be bothered half the time.
Skipp - who has shown nothing to suggest he is PL quality.
Hojberg - Over rated because he was cheap and couldn`t even attempt to close down a shot for their second goal, a bang average player.
Winks - Not good enough and won`t get any better.
Yesterday, Dele had a decent game in a role that does not suit his strengths, he kept the ball well, used it well and helped set up one of our 2 clear chances, yet clueless and reactionary fans single him out for criticism when he is far from our worse player.

I agree with you Billy. If people are expecting loads of goals and assists like the old Dele they will be dissapointed. It was clear from pre season he is being asked to play in a deeper role. Give him time.

I think we just stick with Ndombele, Lo Celso (playing where he played when he won Copa) and Hojbjerg
Dele should only be deployed next to Kane or Son in a narrow forward line.

We need to go back to Dele pushed up behind Kane so that when he drops Dele can run into the space - that is what he is good at and how he got to 50 Prem goals younger than any other player ever.
What we lose by doing that is A) some width - but who cares when we can’t cross anyway
B) Dele won’t defend
You then need a deep lying creative midfielder - Eriksen basically, a guy we never had cover for and have never seemingly even tried to replace - Ndombele isn’t fit to lace his boots from what we have seen. Put Skipp and PEH in the middle to do the donkey work.
Do that and we will be much more entertaining and will carry real goal threat again. It won’t win the league or CL but it could win the Euro conference/league cup and get us pushing the top 4 again.

He is a mirror of the team. In transition and adapting to a new position. You cannot question his work rate at the moment and was one of best players in the first three matches.
I have been his biggest critic the last couple of seasons but the game has passed him by in terms of him being an attacker. He used to play CM when he was younger and reverting back to that position.
Against weaker opposition he will play better but time for fans to accept he is playing in a new position and we cannot expect top drawer performances overnight. He will get better. There has definately been a change of attitude in him since Jose left.

Yesterday he put a proper shift in. Did some decent stuff with the ball but overall i think there is not the partnerships developed in the team and the patterns of play when on a slower build up. SO often a player is made to look good by the movement of others. This isnt kids football where the best players are the ones that can run past everyone. Dele needs people around him that are on the same wave length and better movement and attacking patterns of play need to be coached into this team.
Football moves on very quickly and whereas in late Poch era, teams would defend in numbers against us and frustrate us as we struggled for ideas to break them down, now we get hard pressed and hassled into making a decision. In that split second decision making you need options and if there are none the ball goes backwards as we often see. Interplay and movement is needed to improve this team and Dele would flourish in a team like that. It was notable yesterday how Jorginho and Kovacic were always available but when they received the ball it was quickly moved on, positively, while the movement ahead of them was constant, players always looking for space and expectant of receiving the ball.
We showed some good play at times, but not enough and hopefully more time will see this develop and we'll see more from the likes of Dele, GLC and NDombele.

I believe Lo Celso played well, in the role beside Holjberg previously. He gets stuck in, tackles & can dribble with the ball... just pick up too many injuries...
So with Lucas hopefully returning next weekend, I think we should try this line up:

The worry about Alli is that it's not about fitness. The guy covers more ground than any other player each game. For some weird reason he's just lost that ability or instinct to arrive in the box at the right time. Tactically there have been big changes in the last couple of years though. We no longer control games. We no longer hold a high line and play most of our football in the opposition half. That has a dramatic effect on Alli's starting position when we regain possession. If he's working his socks off and he's even so much as 10 yards deeper than he would have been before, that changes the timing of when he makes it into the box. Poch knew how to get the best out of him but let's be honest, his form was dipping long before Jose came in so it's not just a managerial change that caused this. I don't really get it. He wouldn't be the first player to show great promise at an early age and then drift into oblivion. Normally it's injuries, like Michael Owen, that cause it, but sometimes players lose that hunger. Those David Bentley types that just begin to care less. DB always said that when football became more professional and less fun, he lost interest. I can understand that. Some people might have the talent but not the drive to be the best all the time. I'm sure all of us have had moments in our professional lives where we've taken the foot off the pedal a bit. Footballers are no exception. I think Alli might be one of those types. He needs to feel a certain way to play a certain way.
It's a shame but there's no point in selling him now, at his lowest value. It's far better to wait to see if he can rediscover form before pulling the trigger.
