Minimum expectation should be a title challenge. Really as simple as that tbh.

6/1 on Utd atm.

Get your money on 52!

We would need to finish on around 90 points this season to win the title because Liverpool, Chelsea and City will all push each other, unless one gets a ridiculous amount of injuries like Liverpool last year.

No team coached by Ole is finishing on 90 points.

So no, we aren't going to win the league, we lack the central midfield and coach/play style whatever you want to call it to dominate games every week.

No one, including myself is expecting us to win the title. I think that works in our favour and gives us a massive chance to win the title and I expect we will win it because of that.

I'd keep your Euros in your pocket and buy a nice bottle of Bordeaux instead, '52, I don't think we're good enough just yet.

In any given 1 off game, even against City, Liverpool or Chelsea away, I'd say we have good enough players out there and we're a good enough team to beat them.

But I just still don't see the consistency in our actual 'performances' to look at a block of say 7 or 8 fixtures and say we could go on a run here and get maximum points.

probably true, though from memory i think last season, after a sticky start, we did enjoy a run of 11 wins and 2 draws from 13

posted on 20/9/21

I think we can challenge but I'm not sure we're consistent enough in our performances to win it at this moment in time. We haven't really imposed ourselves as the dominant side in any games yet bar maybe Leeds, but they just play into teams hands who have pace and quality in the final third of the pitch.

October is huge for the title favourties, we will know a lot more by then.

I still have Utd down as 4th though.

You should mention that more

It'll be tough to say, I don't think any of City, United, Liverpool or Chelsea will be, realistically, out of the race until March/early April time unless something catastrophic happens between now and then.

As mentioned above, I don't think United are consistent enough to build up enough wins over the course of the season. I think every team has faults somewhere, Chelsea's seem to be the "least noticeable" out of the 4, but there are no guarantees.

Yes. Along with everyone else who has replied to this article and said we aren't good enough to win the title.

I think we’re rightly 4th favourites and nothing I’ve seen so far suggests otherwise.

Won’t stop me believing though.

We have a team capable of it but so do 3 others. I don't see the point in comparing our team with City's, we play them twice a year. We don't need to beat City every week.

3 losses from 30 odd Prem games shows we are capable of putting runs together. Draws cost us big time last year, it's not liek we were losing too many games. It will come down to who can grind out results through hard patches and whilst Chelsea look to be the best set for this, it only takes a dodgy month for everything to change.

Spurs were top of the league last November and some peolle were genuinely discussing them as title contenders. Opinions are very fickle and you never know what is round the corner. I don't see not winning the league as a failing but we need to be there or thereabouts and between ever changing opinions based on the last 5 games and bias, you'll struggle to get an objective, consistent opinion across the board. I see 4 teams as capable of winning it, with Chelsea and City slightly ahead as favourites.

You must be fuming we won yesterday as most have acknowledged that whilst we may still fall short of the titke, we expect and will want a title challenge as minimum.

Not one posted has posted petulant chit like this: "No team coached by Ole is finishing on 90 points."

If you know that to be fact, please tell us how the pandemic will play out too oracle.

Yep I don't expect us to win it, but we need to be in the running right to the last few weeks of the season

People will say they 'expect a title challenge' or to be 'in the race until the last month' minimum, when really they mean if we don't win the league they want Ole gone.

If we keep up with the top of the league, but fall away in the last month and lose by 7 or 8 points. People will still be saying he's done as well as he can, can't take us any further etc.

Would depend. If we were already 7 or 8 points behind with a month to go and it finished at the same margin, I'd think we'd underachieved. But if we were within a couple of points and then lost a game or two in the run in, I wouldn't see that as being failing to challenge. Which is strange, as the margin is the same regardless.

Good points.

My position has and always has been from what ive seen of under ole since he started overall im happy. Yep hes still making basic errors but with the overall job he's done and position we are now in as a club and squad, you can forgive him.

I also believe he needs a trophy and a sustained title challenge now and this season needs to show that or questions will be asked. He's bought plenty of grace so can see your view but progress needs to consolidate at some point right?

As Klopp, Pep, and Tommy are all better than Ole, there are going to be some disappointed fans. Unless they get one each, and the side that gets the cup will be disappointed.
Just think if Conte comes to us, that's another disappointment for someone.
