Villa looked by far the better team from the skysports highlights, were they unlucky to lose?
They should have scored like 6 but crap finishing let them down.

They had the better chances throughout the game. They looked especially dangerous once we scored. But our defence/Kepa looked comfortable apart from the goal which, was outstanding - the cross and the finish. We should have been out of sight by then anyway.
In short, Villa, a young Villa, wanted it more and were the better team. I think that when we set up against teams that will be physical, we can't afford players like Saul, Ziyech and CHO.
I think that it's too early to make judgements on Saul and Sarr ,we must give them both some time, Sarr to me looked very promising.
Chalobha and James were both top rate .
Otherwise, a decent showing from a much changed team, against also, a good Villa side.
The only concerns for me, were Zyech and RLC,both seem to be inconsistent ,they both seem to disappear for times during the game !
The Good - All of the academy players.
Loftus-Cheek stood out, the only player along with Hudson-Odoi that tried to be progressive with their play, found their team-mates with smart passes regularly and retained possession for the most part.
The average - Werner.
Werner' miss was pathetic, angle was in his favour had to score (didn't even get shot on target)
Hudson-Odoi had a tighter angle and managed to test the keeper.
The God-awful - Sarr, Ziyech & Saul.
Latter two could not string passes together, nor retain possession. Both are turnover machines.
Best thing Ziyech did was that beauty of a pass to put Werner clean through 1 on 1.
Taking into account these group of players hadn't played together, and some playing in their unfavored roles, it was OK performance given the circumstances...particularly in the second half. I've seen worse.
Sorry to nit pick...
Kante played 45.
James was one of our best players.
James wasn’t average, he had a good game
James was our best player. Made a great tackle. Cleared one off the line. Created the goal with a pinpoint cross. General play and possession was top quality.
RLC looks class in patches. Very regal when carrying the ball through midfield and releases some good passes to attackers but doesn't dominate the game which will be his downfall at Chelsea.
It's difficult to judge players in games like this, they aren't used to playing together let alone 90 minutes of competitive football.
