If these lot have passed the fit and proper test to become owners, then the test is flawed and must be replaced

There's a difference between using a club to pay off your debts and using a club to sanitise limb cutting and murder of innocents.

It’s one thing to have some taxi driver from Manchester defending City’s owners on Twitter, but having BBC pundits defending Newcastle via the BBC is next level whitewashing.

Did you really think the like of Shearer or Owen would not come out and exercise their all too regular opinionated big mouths ?

Shearer is a classic example of someone who does not give a fig as to the political, ethical or moral backgrounds of the people coming in with their tainted money. All he cares about is who are we gonna buy first ?

For me, the only upside to yet another "super club" being created is that Newcastle will overtake the likes of City and Chelsea in scooping up every trophy available in the UK, not to mention, hopefully making sure City never win their so called "holy grail" of the CL.

I’d argue it is a successful strategy, not in football at least. It’s exposed the failings far more than anything else, it’s expanded Middle East politics from the front page to the back.

It’s not really for this forum but I’d also argue that if you take the UAE, their increased involvement in western culture has been a part of what has led to significant progress in some areas (albeit there’s a long way to go) that isn’t the same in other countries in the region.

Highly doubt the same will be true in Saudi, but then I’m not sure exclusion is a good tactic either, particularly when no other sector is doing it including the government.

I suppose it gives some of these virtue signalling footballers a chance to take an actual stand. But I'm sure they'll just carry on taking their massive pay packets from the Saudis and take the knee once a week to look like they're doing something.

I also don't see how the premier league & FA can keep banging on about diversity & equality whilst allowing this takeover, such hypocrites, all of them.

It’s got nothing to do with the FA. I’m not sure how the pl can be expected to do anything either when the country is a key ally and trading partner with our government. It’s at that level people should be kicking off about it.

Exactly, our gov have been dealing with the Saudi's for years (literally selling them arms) and no-one has batted an eyelid, now their involved in football, people start giving a chit...it's BS, and i don't buy it.

Dur, people claim the Saudi’s chop up people who speak out against them in the media, and then have a go at Shearer for getting behind them in the media

Are you all suggesting Shearer should put himself forward to be dismembered???

I’m pretty sure a few people have batted an eyelid

However making money off terrible people by unethical means and letting them take a shiiiiit on your doorstep are somewhat different

Problem is that our Government is unwilling to tackle this at an international level - mostly because the country is propped up by Saudi money (property, transport, income from trade etc.).

It's just another sorry state of affairs that Newcastle fans are expected to lead the country's charge against morally corrupt countries.

Two other things annoying me about this:

1. Newcastle fans saying 'we've got our club back' - you don't and never will have 'your' club back, it's now just owned by billionaires rather than a millionaire.

2. Other clubs (ours included) that pretend we're in some ways better than them, we aren't. Any club with a billionaire / millionaire owner is just the same - a shell for them to clean their dirty money.

The Premier League lost its way years ago and it isn't coming back.

For sure, their owners are at the sh1ttiest end of the moral scale but ultimately NONE of the owners are in this for the clubs and their supporters - they are all just making money

EVERY single country, including ours makes or have made money by unethical means and then sh*ts on everyone else.

What’s the west issue with other countries trying to progress. These things happen incrementally. What was the uk like 200 years ago or even 100 years ago? These countries will change also.

Well just progressing from the Dark Ages would be a start.

If that was true, a lot of people with wealth, wouldn't have that now..America wouldn't exist, Barclays bank wouldn't be here etc..because they or their families carved, whipped, stoned, worked and killed people.. and their family now are receiving the benefit of that. This is no different...
