It Follows
Hereditary
Autopsy of Jane Doe
Babadook
10 Cloverfield Lane

All good new horror films of the last 10 years. Don't know if any can match the classics of yesteryear like The Shining, Halloween, Alien, The Thing etc..

10 Cloverfield Lane

Gets bad reviews, but loved it, thought it was great

Hereditary
The Witch
The Orphanage
The Others

If I wasn’t at work I’d compile a bigger list

Overated for me.

A quiet place 2 was decent. ‘The decent’ is as good as I’ve seen since 2000, a claustrophobic horror before monsters were even introduced. And grim too.

The witch is very well done and has a really oppressive atmosphere, but quite boring over all.

The Witch was boring nothingness. Shame as loved the setting.

A quiet place. Going back further I really liked Insidious.

I don't think I have ever enjoyed a horror film. Just don't get what people get out of them. I guess stuff like Psycho! I get from a cinematography perspective but stuff like Hostel and alike I just cannot understand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hostel is hardly what I’d consider horror. It was a fad of gore-prawn.

Seems a bit strange to lump all of horror together considering the wide range of genres throughout the decades.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't that exactly what you did in the OP, though.

I agree with the other guy. I just don't get the appeal people find in horror films. That being said, people like different things, so that's not really any of my business. We had to do horror as a genre for Media Studies, and I outright refused to do it after being forced to watch The Orphanage.

Worst horror for sickening gore/violence were green hell and 100 ft- which is a pretty nothing film except for one scene which is waaaay out of proportion to the rest of the film.

Bone tomahawk is one I enjoyed

Sort of a western horror I suppose

Some very unsettling scenes in that one , especially at the end

Yeah for me it is the Descent. Think it came out in 2005 but will always leave a lasting impression. Brilliantly haunting from start to finish.

It could have been a top horror without creatures due to the intense claustrophobic nature alone. . It really is first class.

Been mentioned by a couple but Hereditary is a winner for me.

I saw that and totally wasn't expecting that one scene. I have a pretty strong stomach for violence but even I was taken aback by that.

Yep comes out of nowhere and it’s bad

The scalp in the mouth was just the prelude for that poor guy

It’s a good film though….even the bloke from lost plays a good role in it
