Lingard has done far more when given the chance that VDB. Similar game time I imagine but actually having an impact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Beekers is world class while he is on the bench though. Beggars belief.
Lingard has played a role in most of the silverware we have won, post SAF and doesn't moan when he is on the bench. Quality squad players, pro (instagram aside) and a UTD boy.
Ole said he rated Jesse "as a player and as a person" - that I like. I hope he stays, and I wish we could get him on the pitch more often, but frankly his best role seems to be as an impact sub (like Ole was). The other player Ole needs to sort is Donny. Either he starts playing, or he is gone. Can't blame him for leaving, as his @rse is sore from manning the bench!

So where does Lingard fit in the side that would justify him signing a new contract ?

Impact sub.
Definitely better than VDB insofar as he makes an impact when he’s given the chance. VDB is a talented non-entity.

Do you have an opinion about anything? Its just a barrage of questions from you. And this is your thread. Make your point and stick to it.
Can’t be rated that highly if Ole’s bought 2 players in his role, he rarely starts and was loaned out. Not a surprise the club want to give a new contract either. Don’t mind keeping him though but only if he’s happy to be a squad player and on a lower wage that a squad player should be on.
If Lingard has a brain and some ambition he’ll just leave and not sign da ting. He’s actually quite a good footballer and deserves to be starting somewhere every week.
Tbf I reckon that’s what he’ll do.

Seems the most logical Newcastle signing ever
Lingard is Lingard and as a United supporter you know what you are going to get. Which is why the club have been trying to offload him without success due to his daft contract. I know a lot of Newcastle fans and they think the same about Lingard. He's good but not good enough at that level they aspire to. (Like Man United supporters do). They would be disappointed if the Saudi takeover meant seeing the likes of Lingard.
Newcastle fans probably need to be a little more realistic and understand success ain’t gonna happen over night. The top players aren’t going to be rushing to go there any time soon and they would probably do well to get players of the quality of Lingard who showed at West Ham that he can help a club get European football even if he has been inconsistent at United. Who do Newcastle fans think they’re going to get? Right now it’s most likely going to be well known players past their best who are looking for a big pay day.

If you do, well, then you're stuck on the bench, (What?)
listening to vDB chat about his stench. (Yep!)
We got Bruno, we got Mason, (Chim-Chiminee) even Sancho's been up front too, (No diggity!)
That ain't to say that they're better than you, but you got a year left, (What? What?) so what you gonna do then?

They're idiots then. Who did City sign when they were mid table after the take over? Bellamy, Wayne Bridge, Santa Cruz, Gareth Barry.... it'll be small steps. Lingard would be perfect for Newcastle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly.
Lingard is perfect for them.

Yes Newcastle fans have always been idiots. Which is why they want big name signings right now. Not the likes of Lingard who is deemed as not got enough for United
I’m sure there are plenty of sensible Newcastle fans too who can see that Lingard would be a good signing. Maybe Jones, Dalot, Bailly and Pereira as well, sure we can work out a fair price.
