Celtic are making a sensational swoop for £16m rated Dortmund and German internationalist CM Mahmoud Dahoud.
They are bringing out a celebratory track titled Ooh, ahh, up the Da....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should have gone for big Ron Atkinson as boss could have marketed training gear with “RA” on it
Really is pathetic the lengths this $hite has went
There are videos on YouTube of Rangers fans signing 4 lads had a dream 8 years ago ffs
That song and it's lyrics have been embraced by the club ever since we went down the leagues....which is why it was selected as the backing song to an advert for the launch of a kit celebrating the clubs 150th anniversary
The kit itself even has "The Gallant Pioneers" written into its fabric, in reference to the same four founding fathers of the club
Every kit launched this season has also had the name of a founding father written on the inside at the back of the collar
It was a perfectly apt song to choose for such a launch....and it's been hijacked by folk that are saying a tune...a fcking tune causes offence
This is the same tune that Crystal Palace fans used to sing " He went for a $hit" when Jason Puncheon had to leave the pitch to relieve himself
I mean FFS, get a grip
All this is doing is giving a voice to people who want to indulge in petty point scoring
There is absolutely nothing offensive about the advert for the new kit, or the tune that Rangers as a club have embraced these days to celebrate the 4 lads that founded the club
Move on ffs
There will be a full-on meltdoon tomorrow if they drop points to Murderwell and I can actually see it happening.
Hopefully a few season-ending injuries, too.

FWIW I don't believe there is actually any great deal of anti-irish racism at Ibrox.
As far as I'm aware there's a Dublin RSC that regularly attends matches without any issue.
It's sectarianism pure and simple.
The lunatic fringe are trying to class it as racism as they know that racism is, officially, frowned on by UEFA and the SFA whereas sectarianism isn't an issue for them.

Like Operation Flavius and Ebony Clunge??
Just to point out that the famine song has been deemed legally racist, not sectarian.
Like I said earlier, it’s not something that bothers me and I have seen the argument that changing the lyrics should be deemed a good thing, but the smartest idea would be a completely different tune for your 4 lads-that way it doesn’t cause any issues. I’m pretty sure rangers have banned fans this season for singing it?!
Unless someone can correct me, the lyrics when this was first sung at ibrox were about the famine. The fact it was previously sung by the beach boys is irrelevant, and the fact that the lyrics played over the tannoy are about your origins doesn’t hide the fact that the song is still hijacked by fans and different words are sung.
It’s a bit like the orange tops being a tribute to Dutch players.
I don’t think it was a great idea to use the song-it just left the club wide open for criticism. That’s the world we live in.
And if we’re being serious about tackling these issues, then I don’t really think playing this tune and giving fans the opportunity to sing a song that’s legally classed as racist isn’t very helpful either.
Damn it Pov, not again. If I keep on agreeing with you people will start rumours....All I would add though is that perhaps the hopefully offended should have waited until such offence was committed before waling like little girls (no offence to little girls..Leigh) just in case the support have matured and choose not to indulge in offensive lyrics...
Think that’s the point though schiz-the famine song is still sung by rangers fans. Good intentions or not, a completely new song would have been a better idea because it still allows folk to use it. I think it’s naive to believe that if it’s played regularly at ibrox, then there aren’t fans that song the ‘original’ words.
I don’t think it’s a big thing, it’s just a bit of an own goal.

It is a completely different song
It’s different lyrics.
It’s the same tune.
No one has suggested anything other than that.
The same tune is still being used by rangers fans to sing a racist version.
It wasn’t the brightest thing to do at a time when racism is such a major news issue, and an area that rangers have rightly been highlighting.
It kinda invites controversy a bit.
Perhaps the hope is they will use the tune with some nice new words as a oppose to the snidey ones.
I think thats optimistic until rangers are losing 1-0 then get 2 penalties to take the lead. Then its all about dem feenyins.

The tune is sloop John b used at sports grounds across the world for various songs because gues what you can make almost any lyrics or chant fit it.

The song is 100% appropriate for what it's being used for.

It’s unfortunate that for so many years before the 4 lads version, when rangers fans sang the song, it was a racist version. It’s unfortunate that’s what some of your fans still take this sloop john b song and use it to indulge racist lyrics.
