Lets not say the orange strip is just like rangers bringing out a purple one, you're either at it or deluded if u believe that ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All I am saying is Rangers bring out strips in lots of different colours all the time.

They launch training wear almost weekly these days in a variety of colours.

I am saying orange is far from a dominant colour in official club wear these days.

Yet it is still seems to be being held up as a the key colour that seems to symbolise that the club is inherently sectarian.

If you went to the Rangers store tomorrow you would see well less than 10% of the gear has any orange on it.

It’s really not as big a thing as you seem to think it is.

To pay respect to all the Dutch players…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was to respect Jim McClean for his European exloits with United, I think.

Better than some of the other reasons that are getting trotted out at least.

Just to check-is the suggestion here that there are rangers fans that don’t sing a racist version of this, or that the ‘original’ version that rangers fans sang wasn’t the racist version??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not a "version" completely different song.

There are vile people who sing the famine song but its really 100% completely unrelated.

Have you listened to the 2 links i posted?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No-why?!

Are we agreeing it’s the same tune?

Are we agreeing it’s different lyrics?!

Is it therefore just different versions of the original tune?!

I’d love to see that as a defence in one of these copyright cases.

I don’t think it was a great idea for someone to write different lyrics using a tune which has racist connotations, purely because of the amount of morons who just won’t change. Start from scratch and do something completely new-it breaks the links.

I think it was a bit naive in the current climate for your club to use a tune which rangers fans have 2 different sets of lyrics for-one of which has been legally declared racist.

If you don’t think that’s an issue, that’s entirely your prerogative. I think that similarly, especially in the current climate, if some folk think that wasn’t very wise, then that’s their prerogative as well.

The fact that the racist version is still widely sang by rangers fans publicly and in large numbers would have made the club think it maybe wasn’t the best idea right now.

So you actually have no idea what you are talking about

Mock offence at its finest

Let’s not forget that Celtic brought out a black strip to pay homage to the Aye Are Aye

Or was it out of respect to the black players their fans threw bananas at?

posted on 16/10/21

Red - training range,
Yellow - GK kit
Pink - none
Green - bolk - no thanks
Orange - one training range featuring orange/blue
Purple - away top
Blue - home kit, travel wear, training range, anniversary range, golf range etc
White - GK top, travel polos, 150 yr top, training range etc
Black - away top, euro training range, blackout range
Grey - travel wear, black/grey training wear

So Rangers gear comes in pretty much every colour except pink and green. The majority of it features red, white, blue and black.

But aye it’s the orange bits on one of the training tops that shows the club is still rotten to the core with proddy bigots.

😂

You clearly can’t read.

Where have I said anything about me being offended?

I’m sure you’re the guy who is very vehemently against all forms of racism-pretty sure you’ve been very vociferous on that.

If you can point out where I’m wrong in this, I’ll gladly apologise.

Same tune-different lyrics.

Man U fans are obviously singing in support of the Aye Are Aye when they sing “oo ah cantona” as it’s the same time as “oo ah up the ra”

Offended by tunes now 😂😂😂😂

You back again?!

How many days do you think you’ll last this time??

I’m out for the meantime. You guys can keep thinking that orange strips (and I’m talking about the original homage to the Dutch strip) doesn’t pander to a certain element, or that changing lyrics somehow means you can forget about a previous version of the same tune.

So you don’t think black strips pander to a certain element of your own support and you don’t think Man U fans pay homage to the Aye Are Aye when singing about cantona?

It’s no wonder Rangers are struggling to move on when Celtic fans are still obsessing over an orange kit from nearly 20 years ago.

On one hand we are a new club with no history when it suits…😂

You have no valid informed opinion because guess what you have yourself admitted you refuse to be informed on the subject.

Actually admitted you dont know the song. FFS utter madness

It’s a thorny issue al right and I can see the various sides to it, but I can’t but feel that in this, as in all things, there would be less contention if Rangers fans just stopped being such vvanks.

Here

If bears sing this song for their 4 lads or whatever; good luck to them. The tune becomes irrelevant.

Somehow I think we all know the rseholes will latch on and use it for the usual piiish that plagues both our clubs.

It just “allows” it to happen is all. That’s the link for those that can’t or refuse to see it.

I don’t get offended by Rangers fans singing derogatory songs one little bit. In fact I’ll probably be more offended when our own fans indulge in it. It’s cringey and embarrassing as fwck.

Hey ho. Thank Christ the league games are back on.

I think four lads had a dream is a fantastic song, but there's no doubt that the sloop John B tune during a Rangers game reminds some of the famine song. I personally think some folks have worked hard to be offended by it but some will be genuine.

I don't think that was the intention here but ultimately it has offended some. We have our issues with sectarianism - they're pretty well known but the formation of the club is probably the only period completely free of that so it's a bit disappointing that it's gone this way for the celebration.

If the famine song hadn't been heard in years I think it would be a different discussion but for some of the support it never went away.

I'm not offended by the tune in the slightest.
It's quite a nice wee tune.
I'm not bothered by any set of lyrics either.
But there's an association there that the club are aware of.

It seems that this 4 lads song has been around for a few years. Was there never one before then?

Some laugh this. Think a few have jumped on it too quickly. Maybe take a step back and realise the version of the famine song that was once sang at games and through the city centre... Is actually to a different tune

There is another, longer version of it that was put on YouTube by two roasters years ago, and hasn't been sang at Rangers games home or away. That one is to the tune of 4 lads.
Would be livid if my club apologised for that.

Wouldn't be taking nil by mouth seriously either. Blocking any accounts that point out bigotry from the other side.

They're most certainly part of the problem. Hope we sing it all afternoon and remain well clear of Celtic, have a sneaky feeling the complaints will be louder if you fail to win today.
