Some laugh this. Think a few have jumped on it too quickly. Maybe take a step back and realise the version of the famine song that was once sang at games and through the city centre... Is actually to a different tune

There is another, longer version of it that was put on YouTube by two roasters years ago, and hasn't been sang at Rangers games home or away. That one is to the tune of 4 lads.
Would be livid if my club apologised for that.

Wouldn't be taking nil by mouth seriously either. Blocking any accounts that point out bigotry from the other side.

They're most certainly part of the problem. Hope we sing it all afternoon and remain well clear of Celtic, have a sneaky feeling the complaints will be louder if you fail to win today.

I’m expecting a draw for us today. Wouldn’t surprise me if you had one too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably for the best.
Can't imagine poor Michael Stewart if we one. The fvckin gimp
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The league is yours this season. I’ve never for a second thought differently.

I think four lads had a dream is a fantastic song, but there's no doubt that the sloop John B tune during a Rangers game reminds some of the famine song. I personally think some folks have worked hard to be offended by it but some will be genuine.

I don't think that was the intention here but ultimately it has offended some. We have our issues with sectarianism - they're pretty well known but the formation of the club is probably the only period completely free of that so it's a bit disappointing that it's gone this way for the celebration.

If the famine song hadn't been heard in years I think it would be a different discussion but for some of the support it never went away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not offended by the tune in the slightest.
It's quite a nice wee tune.
I'm not bothered by any set of lyrics either.
But there's an association there that the club are aware of.

It seems that this 4 lads song has been around for a few years. Was there never one before then?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It mainly picked up 10 years ago when we were in bottom tier.

The founders trail ( excellent tour) had started a few years previously that had educated and reminded (including me) many of our fans of the origin story.

So that gave birth to the song, been very popular since that first game in the 3rd division but was kicking about a wee bit before that.

Actually I quite fancy doing that founders trail. Looks really interesting.

Would probably need to wear a balaclava though. Not sure it would go down well.

But we all know it will. As much on one side as the other. Which I think is the point everyone is making.

It’s no wonder Rangers are struggling to move on when Celtic fans are still obsessing over an orange kit from nearly 20 years ago.

On one hand we are a new club with no history when it suits…😂

If bears sing this song for their 4 lads or whatever; good luck to them. The tune becomes irrelevant.

Somehow I think we all know the rseholes will latch on and use it for the usual piiish that plagues both our clubs.

It just “allows” it to happen is all. That’s the link for those that can’t or refuse to see it.

I don’t get offended by Rangers fans singing derogatory songs one little bit. In fact I’ll probably be more offended when our own fans indulge in it. It’s cringey and embarrassing as fwck.

Hey ho. Thank Christ the league games are back on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is my take on it also.

If be pretty embarrassed of Celtic started playing the Celtic Symphony but with different lyrics, as it would be an excuse for, and give credence to the muppets to sing the "up the Ra" bit, and for them to turn excuse it by claiming it was Samaras they were singing.

Rangers know what they're doing by using that song, especially after the UB marches earlier this year through Glasgow where they were filmed singing the famine lyrics, and were rightly castigated for it.

The club say one thing (we'll tackle/address this issue) and then pander to the same group of fans by using the tune over an official video. It's so blatantly obvious what they're doing and any Rangers fan denying it is just being either disingenuous or beyond naive
