Players Getting Frustrated with Ole?

Ole also had to stop Ronaldo storming off again.

Fingers crossed he’ll be gone in the next few weeks and we can salvage the season.

I reckon if we lose the next 2 he will be gone

I want him gone next Monday after the Pool game.

There isn't much of a direction is there. Seems like players are told do go out there and play. But when we play against team with a manager that's tactically astute, doesn't matter how many great individual players we have, we won't win. Even Brentford would school us, that's how badly coached we are.

I know people aren’t amazingly happy with the idea of Conte coming in but I guarantee the players would all secretly be happy a master tactician would be coming in and could finally give the team an identity.

Pogba (in the OP) and Ronaldo (mentioned by Robb) are two of the players with least justified at pointing the finger elsewhere after the Leicester match. Pogba was awful and Ronaldo had another match where the "he doesn't run but he always scores goals" trade off didn't work in our favour.

That said, when the team looks as incoherent as this after this long with the manager, it's unsurprising if the squad is starting to get impatient with him.

Also, I thought that even though Solskjaer's comments about Rashford were couched in praise, the fact that he mentioned 'prioritising his football' was really out of order. Rashford has always been professional, played through injury for his manager, delayed an operation to see out the season, and has come back ahead of schedule. One thing Ole has generally done well is create a sense of positivity, a culture of togetherness, and subtly throwing someone under the bus like that undermines his USP when he doesn't have a great deal of credit in the bank on other aspects of his management.

RR, I agree with you, Pogba was woeful against Leicester and his comments were unjust, but it might just be his frustration now finally coming out. It can't just be an player thing, it is quite clearly a coaching issue as it looks like we have gone backwards with better players.

The Rashford comments were quite bad to be honest, especially seeing how Rashford has the most since Ole has started and has arguably saved Ole a few times. He continues to put up good G/A stats without playing spectacularly.

Sources close to Rashford are unhappy that Solskjær felt the need to mention his priorities

i'm not surprised, i thought ole's comments were extremely odd, and very unhelpful

He definitely missed the spot regarding those Rashford comments, will probably sow more doubt than several poor performances

I thought it was odd when Ole said he didn’t want any sulkers in the squad when asked about DVB, he said it in a general way but just why say it publicly and if I was DVB it would have felt pointed at me.

Once you lose the dressing room you don't get it back. If all this starts to snowball it'll start going further south very quickly.

The Rashford comment smacks of someone under pressure and blurting entirely the wrong thing. That's the type of thing that sows small seeds of discontent that lead to big situations.

A loss against Atalanta and Liverpool could really be the final nail in the coffin.

Fingers crossed we lose to Atalanta and Liverpool. Will have a new manager by next week

I think Ole would quit long before he’s sacked.

If I was Ole I would hold my hands up and admit I couldn't take the club any further. He's done great in recruitment and stabilising us, but seems like he lacks what's needed to win trophies.

I will thank him for doing what we needed, but regrettably, it's probably time we got a top class manager in with better coaches too.

I wouldn’t blame him if he stayed until being sacked as we’ve all got bills to pay so completely respect milking the glazers out of what he can get. If Phil Jones can keep getting paid I have zero issue with Ole doing the same - however, I think the respect he’d get from everyone if he did as you say and walk away for decent reasons would be totally worth the lack of future pay.

Though as Don said the other day, perhaps there’s some clause in Oles contract where he can walk away and at least get some sort of payoff.

You'd like to think the relationship he has with the club is amicable enough for a mutually beneficial accord to be reached.

Absolutely. We could lose our next 10 games and can almost guarantee the official reason for him leaving will be ‘mutual agreement’ and there will be a payoff and everyone will try and come out of it looking as good as possible. Which is fair as while I think Ole is completely out of his depth, he’s a good guy from what I’ve seen over the years and I would prefer he isn’t ‘sacked’ in the traditional sense.

Recent movement in the sack race odds (from Paddy Power)

Poor old Steve Bruce - 1/9
Solskjaer - 15/2 (probably not as short as you'd think if this thread is representative of current thinking)
Brendan Rodgers - 9/1
Ranieri - 11/1 (after one game )
Nuno - 20/1
Bielsa/Arteta/Farke - 25/1

I think the Ole price would be a lot shorter if the Steve Bruce sacking wasn’t so imminent.
