For the sake of pure mischief/justice I would love if just one footballer was brave/stupid/legendary enough to score a goal at St James Park this season when the Saudis are in attendance and remove his shirt when celebrating to reveal a T-shirt underneath with the face of Jamal Khashoggi. And then the TV cameras showing the reaction of the owners.

He will be asked to attend an evening tea party in Saudi embassy

Think they’ll get Zidane and tell him he’s managing Juventus.

Brucie will always be the man who scored 'those two goals' that sent Fergie on his way.

ZZ cant speak English.

What is he going to make of the noises they make in Tyne and Wear if he gets there?

Absolutely. I remember listening to the game on the radio and celebrated like a madman. Kids of today will never know the fun of listening to football on the radio. Dolly and Daisy, a great partnership for us, just a shame that Bruce never played for England.

I look forward to hearing his first Julio Geordio-style interview in a few months.

Didn’t he score 19 goals one season?

Yeah, I think the one where we won the cup winners cup. Was a reliable penalty taker and had to hand over duties to Cantona sadly or else he would have scored loads more.

Used to love it when two red cards on opposing teams came up at the same time and you’d know there’d been a scrap.

He knicked that goal from Hughsie in the Final in Rotterdam vs Barca.

I dont think that Hughsie has ever forgiven him.

i "watched" england go out of euro 2004 on a bloomberg terminal. to make it even worse, they initially reported england's final penalty as having been scored, so i learned of england going out with a flashing "correction:penalty missed".

My schedule was ceefax during the game. Page 302 if I remember correctly and then at half time over to bamboozle on teletext or whatever the channel 4 version was called.

Teamtalk on teletext promised the Batistuta signing which never came 😩

It’s quite frustrating now seeing our defenders rarely scoring goals. Or were we just spoiled by Bruce, Irwin and Vidic. Maguire has a ten-bob-bit head when he pulls on a United shirt.

We should try Maguire on penalties after the one against Italy.

I remember coming home from playing tennis to listen to that game. As soon as I switched the radio on Sheridan pen! Alan Green (I think) on comms saying "Is it going to happen to them again". And then, within 30 mins, jubilation!

There was a similar game that season too against Saints. Nicky Banger put them a goal up with about 20mins to go and Giggs scored two in a minute late on to win the game!

Football scores on ceefax was great. If I were in town on the weekend I’d have to pop into Currys to check the score on the tv. Also page 312 in the morning for the latest transfer gossip. I still love listening to games on the radio too, seem to be doing it more than usual recently.
