Don’t discuss total football too often on the rag baastards board 👍

I think you’re overestimating his apparent evolutions. If you go at City’s defence, just like 2-3 years ago under PG, you can really get at them and score.

You beat us with a deflection in one of your best ever performances? Lol calm down son

The team to beat in both England and Europe it has to be said.

Do City really need a striker?

12 games played and City have scored 5 or more goals, 5 times.

It’s definitely overstated. Plenty of goalscorers in that team.

I guess the real test of missing a top scorer is scoring the big goals against the best teams. We’ll have to see how they get on but I’m sure a top striker could have been pretty useful in Porto last season.

Thought it was more not playing Rodri than anything else with that one. Wouldn’t say no to a striker, I do like our football without a natural one currently though.

We definately need a striker but do you spend big or try and develop Torres, Palmer and Delap?

I’m easy either way tbh.

Well we did smash you open 3-1 at the bridge last season. Was pretty impressive aswell.

We have 2 or 3 different players playing that role in the same game, any plans for man-to-man marking by the opposition go out of the window

A lot of teams don’t know how to handle us with a false 9, as long as the false 9 plays the correct way, Foden can play it but it’s a waste having him there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its one of the things I am curious about Foden because I doubt Pep has decided on his best position and because he is young he wont be bothered.

He has so far trialed the following players in that false 9 position

KDB
Grealish
Foden
Bernardo
Sterling
Jesus
Mahrez

The epic fails were Bernardo & Sterling.

Not sure what to make of Grealish as its been only once. I have always felt the players with the best qualities fr that position are Mahrez and Foden but I agree Foden looks better from the left. Not sure why Mahrez doesn't get an extended go in that position.

What has made the false 9 system more effective is the form of Bernardo and Rodri

Once KDB gets going and those 2 maintain their form we could become unplayable.

I would like to see this team more often:

Foden Mahrez Jesus
Bernardo KDB
Rodri

Exactly movement off the ball has improved immeasurably during peps reign, the way defending did under Mancini’s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mancini laid the foundations of this team in terms of being solid and compact defensively.

An underrated manager but for me, we became a force because of him.

I was at the Sunderland game when Hughes got the bullet, every time we conceded a corner or free kick around the box you just felt we would concede.

Mancini changed that over night and could do it on a wet windy day in stoke.

It all started from that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know for most Pep will probably be our greatest manager and rightly so as he is a generational coach but for me Mancini is our most important managerial appointment in the Premier league era.

Was disgraceful how the owners dismissed him.

Nah, thought it was surprising they lasted as long as they did with him. Had to after the title win but he was gone a long time before he actually left.

Bit of that and he went too public with some of his criticism.
