The Return Of The King (Rashford)

He’s a great player and I said the other day that imo he’s our best and most dangerous player. Doesn’t score with every shot but you know he’ll always put at least one away. We should all get together and ban anyone that calls him Trashford

There needs to be some song about him at the ground with ‘he feeds the poor’ ‘he’ll always score’. There probably is tbh

He is a bit like Cole in that respect. Perhaps not the most lethal in front of goal, but he gets a lot of chances thanks to his pace, movement and desire to keep on going.

I think that he has been unfairly slated in the last 18 months, including by our own fans. The lad has had to keep plugging away whilst carrying injuries. In an ideal world he would have been rested sooner, but we didn't have the squad depth and also Ole had injuries to the other forwards to contend with. I am just happy that we have now been able to give him the rest that he needed.

What I like most about him is that he's direct, play it in front of him and he'll actually run towards the goal. Sancho's been bad for stopping, turning back and playing a pass infield on that side. You can question his decision making at times if you want to, but he makes us far more dangerous when he's on the pitch.

His movement from wide areas is head and shoulders above anyone else in the squad. Yeah, he missed a shīt load of chances last night but they are positions that Martial, Sancho and Greenwood don't tend to find themselves in.

I think he's been playing injured for a while - not just the shoulder but ankle and foot injuries too. Hopefully this 3 months out has done him good. If we could get that late 2019 Rashford back it would massive

Ronaldo was good last night, made a couple of chances in the first half and got more involved with the second.

Rashford just have us a threat in behind, which we lack when Greenwood and Sancho take the wide positions.

Rash should always be the first name on the teamsheet but especially against sides who play with a high line.

100%. As I said in the op, when Bruno picks that ball up in our half, his first thought is to have a look for a runner. Ronaldo is usually on the shoulder looking to get in across/between the CBs. If you have Ronaldo making that movement and creating the space in down the channel, and Rashford also making a similar run into the created space, you will create a lot of chances.

Yes. I can't really think of anyone in the PL that is as dangerous in those areas against a team playing a high line. Perhaps Mane.

Couldn't agree more - Rashford is involved in almost every attack and hugely productive in terms of opportunities/goals/assists as well as influence on how th team plays.

Works well with Luke Shaw on the left and hoping he will develop a great relationship with Ronaldo.

Even last year when he was carrying the injury he still was our second most productive player and heavily involved, for good or bad. Can be frustrating at times but would still always be in our strongest line up for me

I agree. I thought Ronaldo's link up play was good last night and Greenwood was just not in the game.

People tend to forget that Ole is up against Klopp 6 years at Liverpool and Pep 5 years at City. Granted Tuchel has only been there for less than a year and shown incredible progress but the advantage the first 2 have is huge.

I still think 3 attackers doesnt help you. Rather 2 (Rashford + Ronaldo) And pack the midfield

You are being overun in midfield every game and it has a negative effect on your defense and attack.

We just need to get a bit more of a threat form that right side now. My opinion is that down the left Rashford is more likely to cut inside or use Shaw on the overlap to put the cross in. Down the right Sancho should be looking to get to the byline more often and put in some crosses/pullbacks, as you can't rely in AWB to put in decent balls. I thought last season he had improved in that area a little, but this season his balls into the box have been shocking and you can already see the frustration on Ronaldo's face.

He's a pivotal player for us, very direct, but smart with it (most of the time). Hopefully his return brings about a bit of confidence in the team and we can crack on. He's one of the main players that gets the crowd up off their seats.

Watching the extended highlights from last night, if Rashford and Ron are both fit and picked at the weekend and Liverpool play with a high line, the pair will be a threat off the Liverpool CBs’ shoulders.

posted on 21/10/21

Trent is wishing Rashford wasn't back let's just say that right now. He's absolutely ruined him on more than one occasion.

We can hurt that Liverpool defence for sure with the amazing forwards we have. Problem is our defence need to find some form for the weekend or they could have a field day.

Shaw in particular is being caught out of position a lot this season. He needs to stay back a lot more this weekend against Salah.

It's funny that we can all see it but even if we directly email teams telling them that we will exploit their high line, they play the high line anyway. We are close to useless if they sit deep. But they don't listen so it's fine. Rashford hatrick on the break on Sunday.

The white Andy Cole.

Thought he was great yesterday considering it was his first start in months. He missed a few but I’d put that down largely to being a little rusty. Huge player for us and now he’s fixed his shoulder no reason we can’t see him improve even more.

He won’t play there. When will you guys realise that lol. He’s not displacing Greenwood any time soon.

"When will you guys realise that"

I don't speak for anyone else. What gives you that impression?

posted on 21/10/21

Well he was clearly bought for the right side. If he performs to the level he did at Dortmund then he has every chance of displacing Greenwood who’s long term future isn’t on the right.
