In fairness, it was Lampard, Terry, Cech and Drogba managing that team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard to argue that Grant's limitations held Chelsea back, though, when they performed slightly better in the league and finally got past Benitez's Liverpool in the CL. I'm not here to argue he's an elite manager, but that it's a bad example of what happens to a side that doesn't have one. I think the usual hate would be slightly muted if Solskjaer led us to within a couple points of the title this season and lost the CL on penalties.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That Chelsea side was still Jose's, still playing the Jose way and were winners. I doubt Grant did much to improve the team with his coaching and management. As pointed out, the team was pretty much managed by Drogba, Terry, Cech and Lampard. As a matter of fact, I think if Ole took over after SAF, we would have probably finished a lot higher than we did under Moyes the first season as Ole would not have changed much and just try to emulate whet SAF did. Wouldn't have won the title but probably finish 3rd at best because the players would have been motivated enough and not much would have been changed.

I doubt that. It’s one thing taking over from Mourinho at Chelsea with a load of players in their prime. It’s another taking over from bloody Fergie with a load of players past their best.

Not saying Ole would have won the title, I’m saying he would have done better than Moyes as he would have most like kept the back room staff. Players wouldn’t have downed tools because let’s be honest, they won’t under Ole as he’s not an ar$eholé. Even the current team, they won’t down tools on him as he’s too nice regardless how incompetent he is as a manager.

I'm not worried about Sancho, he is only 21 and is bedding in.

We’d have still been shiiiiit as RVP wasn’t able to carry us. He was devastated after Fergie retired and never got back to that level. The whole club was in a state of shock, and opposition preyed on that.

Ole would have been absolutely facked if he took over from Fergie. He’s benefiting now from a club that knows where it stands in footballing hierarchy, so the expectations are completely different.

He needs a run on the right now that Rashford is back. I love Greenwood and think he’ll be a star but quite often if he’s not scoring he’s not offering that much from the right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Greenwood would benefit from playing up front, in team who create chances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. Difficult to drop Ronaldo after last night but would Greenwood be better up too from the start against Liverpool’s high line?

Time won’t solve his issues when it’s the fundamentals that don’t work. Sancho doesn’t suit how we operate. It’s quite simple.

I thought he looked dangerous against Leicester. Far too early to be judging the lad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s shown glimpses. I think he’s been a bit tentative so far, particularly when it comes to taking on his man, preferring to play safe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh agree with that.

how many more angles can you use in creating an 'Ole is a PE teacher and is feckin useless - who agrees, article?

Some glimpses but other wise a disappointing start to his Utd career.but plenty of time to turn that around.,

I think we're more likely to break that high line from out wide. That's why now I'd be tempted to start with a Rashford, Ronaldo, Cavani front three v Liverpool. There's some great movement there. Just drop Bruno a bit deeper and ask Edi and Marcus to work hard. We've got some great subs too if we need to change it.

Sancho is the least of my worries with this team.

We need Varane back ASAP because Lindelof makes my eyes bleed. Never before have I seen a defender who has no defensive attributes what so ever.

This!

Lindelof should be arrested for impersonating a defender!

He’s Scandinavian, he’s got tattoos… I honestly don’t see what more you could want in a defender?
