Bielsa admits that we don't have enough depth and it needs to be sorted. There is a god .......

Also our style is generic, but we don't know any other way. So again, we do need a plan b as we have become predictable.

I do genuinely think we're going to pump Wolves but draw 2-2. After the dross at Saints, we'll be well up for this.

Not sure, but is he any relation to Raphina do you think?

If Phillips is almost ready, I can see the temptation to play him for some of the match, but the risk of losing him for more games by putting him in too early is too high.

If he's not 100% back from his injury, we need to cope without him.

On Leeds newsnow they are predicting that Foreshaw will start so that probably means Shacks at RB and Klich and Struiyk in the middle with James Raphina and Rodrigo are main goal supply and goal threat.

If Foreshaw can finally stay fit at least it gives our midfield a bit more bite but they are all going to have to raise their performance massively to get anything from this game. I'm not sure though that Lorente wouldn't be a better option than Struiyk in that KP role but we'll see and give the team our full support as usual.

True Kebablegs, I'd rather be 17th in the Premier league than scrapping away in the Championship or League one.
I suppose a lot of us have fallen into that trap of getting a bit carried away and even a bit greedy.... Remember Charlton sacking Alan Curbishley because of fan discontentment of finishing no higher than 7th or 8th in the Premier league for about 3 or 4 consecutive seasons. ...crazy!

posted on 21/10/21

Well said, Kebablegs. I think we fans are worrying that, if we lose again, we will be in the relegation zone and that could lead, ultimately, to those dreadful times we experienced in the past happening again in the future. That is why we are worrying during this dip in the team’s form!

Lets roll things on - we get relegated - worst case scenario.

Compare it to 2004 when all parachute payments were swallowed up by huge wages, debt payments and fat cats getting what they could. Player sales just part paid off the debt - there was still no money and in the end we ended up with a team of journeymen in the championship and before long we were not far away from losing the club completely.

If we go down this time we have
decent owner
parachute money
players to sell - Phillips and Raphinha would bring in £100m minimum. Plenty more money we can engineer to rebuild and make a genuine shot at coming back up again.

Of course nobody wants to hear this, but there is nothing to worry about right now. The club is healthy.
Enjoy it!!

Raphinha will be taking all corners, goalkicks, free kicks, corners, penalties and throw ins,
Will be enough for 3 pts

You know what, that's a refreshing way to look at it all.

Nice one Kebab. I'll take that. Cheers

Agree with Kebab, Ervin the worst-case scenario isn’t the end of the world. Think positive cos thinking negative doesn’t do the fans or the team any favours.

I agree Macca, bring Llorente into the KP role, play Coops and Strijk at centre back with Shacks and Dallas on either side of them.
Three years ago, this is the kind of risk Bielsa would have taken, but I think he is looking more at the long-term than the short term, and is prepared to wait it out until our squad is fully fit.
The problem with this is that even when fully fit, as against West ham, we still looked vulnerable.
Aside from the question of injuries, the bigger issue for me is the lack of scoring opportunities we are creating, culminatiing in last week's fiasco at Southampton. Defensively, we were bombarded, but held out reasonably well until we lost possession high up the pitch, and Southampton did to us what we did to them last season. This makes it so important to bring Llorente into the KP role. He is the only one of our players who can come close to improving our transitions from defence into attack.

I would worry if Forshaw is starting. Hes not looked any where near good enough for the Premier League so far.

posted on 22/10/21

I really hope we strengthen our midfield in January.

Worst case scenario is relegation, we spend all our parachute money and are still in the Championship after with a humongous wage bill and an owner trying his best to recoup his investment by selling to the highest bidder.

Personally, I hope that spending money wisely in January to avoid the bottom three will be seen as the better option.

It's pretty sad to hear people starting to accept relegation and justify it as being not so bad.

The problem is we don't have many other options and just have to hope Foreshaw can put in a commanding performance which hasn't happened for a long time.

Unless Bielsa gives Drameh his debut at RB and Shackleton plays midfield or young Mckinstry is given a chance our options are limited, but I don't think Bielsa will give an U23 player a debut tomorrow.
He may give Gelhardt more minutes from the bench though.

Last season we put in our worst league performance of the season against Brighton. Remember that game? We were awful. Midfield of Koch, Roberts and Klich.

Bielsa played the same midfield a week later and we beat Spurs 3-1.

I don’t like Struijk in the DM role and would prefer Forshaw just on the basis he is an actual midfielder. But I expect the same team with Raph and a much better performance.

posted on 22/10/21

Yes I would rather start Drameh and have Shacks in midfield to be honest.

Struijk isnt a midfielder but is a good CB. We really are clutching at straws at the moment n midfield, vaguely hoping Forshaw will come good as its our only option.
