Ever played the game, but by all accounts fans are saying casting is too young. But going by the trailer, it didn’t exactly float my boat…
Just looks like National Treasure… and didn’t like those either.
All pretenders to one true Archaeologist….

I have played the games, and yes I agree Tom Holland does seem a bit young to play the part. But I must admit the film does seem to capture the feel of the games pretty well.

I doubt it will go down as a classic, but as far as games to movies go, this seems like one of the better attempts.

I think story driven games are better suited to tv shows than films. The Witcher has been successful on Netflix and the last of us could be potentially very good.

That said, something like uncharted would probably be better suited to a film but not holding out too many expectations. But you never know

National treasure was always a guilty pleasure of mine, shamefully. I love the Uncharted games, though - among thieves being in my top 5 of all time - so I will probably give this a watch.

Totally agree Tom Holland seems too young for it, though. Not sure it’s going to be believable that a kid who looks about 19 has all the scholarly prowess of the most erudite historian…he’s no Nic Cage 😅

After the hit of Squid Games and Cobra Kai, they are missing a golden ticket here..

StreetFighter.
Surely, a tournament based show on the Game, with a narrative arc over 30 min Eps x 10 can be done.

I think Tom Holland is badly miscast.
The bit where he's got the black leather jacket on and trying to look hard just doesn't do it for me.

Mark wahlberg as sully too? Another terribly miscast actor.
You need someone like JK Simmons, someone older with a bit of grit.
Mark wahlberg just plays mark wahlberg in every film.

Doesn't help that tom looks about 15 and ready for school either.

Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised but I doubt it.

Loved all the games......

JK Simmons is a great shout for Sully

Sully is supposedly 30 years older than Drake. He certainly looked well into his 40s during the cut back chapter in Uncharted 3 when Drake is a boy.

I think the producers wanted a big name hence why Wahlberg was cast.

Tom Holland is giving me a Crystal Skull vibe when they tried to make Shia Lebouf look intimidating.

As for Wahlberg he'll do anything for a few dollars. The guy is a one trick note.

I'm not a fan of the games but find it mildly irritating when they don't even make an effort to cast actors that look similar to the characters and shoehorn people in.

Exactly - Holland is way too young for this roll. It needs to be believable that the person is a live by the seat of your pants action guy who has killed dozens of people.......Holland is a perfect fit for well Peter Parker, hell even Mark looks at least slightly threatening and would have been a better Drake. Some rolls require an idea of a history, when you look in your early 20s no one is really gonna believe your need to find an ancient treasure you have "been searching for all your life"

The casting is waay of for this one, they have badly missed the mark Tom Holland is poor casting, far too young looking and will never age into a look that would fit, same with Sully too so far off the mark you have to wonder how much research was done on the original material.

The fan film that was made had the perfect casting. Nathan Fillion as Drake and Stephen Lang as Sully.....perfect. Check it out for those who havent .

Yep - one of the best "fan" made films I have ever seen, though unfortunately Nathan was never gonna have the pulling power I guess Sony want and maybe might be a bit too old these days, and cos of the Spiderman you gotta feel Sony have good connections with Tom who I guess is a draw for the younger fan base........

However, the action sequences look pretty good, so I will reserve judgement until the film comes out, but yeh don't have high hopes.
