Maguire is clearly not fit and is a far better player than he showed yesterday.

Ole has chucked him under a bus rushing him back.

Shaw though. Fml, positionally it was quite frankly awful, every single one of our goals came from his channel. Awful performance in every area from him.

Imagine Keane , Rooney or Evra as captain on the pitch yesterday for us. He'd be literally grabbing some of their teammates by the neck or getting in their faces throughput the match. Whoever made Harry Maguire captain of Manchester United must be tried for treason.

It is quite apparent now, although he went about it the wrong way, Mourinho was not wrong on Shaw. It appears Luke is not learning as the years go by. At least going forward he is better than AWB

I thought Ronaldo was going to run to him and Shaw after that 2nd goal to give them a bollocking. Manchester United captain conceding a goal like that.

No I don't agree. The protection he was afforded by Rashford and Bruno was absolutely laughable. Proper amateur Sunday morning with a hangover stuff.

There was a constant over load there and that is due to the players in front of Shaw, not Shaw. This of course was exacerbated by Shaw not know where or what Maguire was doing.

posted on 25/10/21

Only Fred in the first half played like he cared.

Bruno is another player that does nothing for most of the game and rarely gets criticised.

We have too many passengers in the team

Shaw has not been great this whole season. He is part of a backline that has not kept a clean sheet for 18 games. His interview after the game, fair play to him is as honest as they come. He has been poor.

He had a bad game, worst I've seen from him. Don't believe everything you read about him and Maguire from the more reactionery of our brethren though, they were both very good last term, and Shaw's been pretty good this season (if you pretend yesterday didn't happen, which personally I am doing anyway)

I'm not going to sit here and defend Shaw, as he didn't have a good game. However, AWB caused issues by pushing too high up the pitch and leaving his man, which meant that all our defence had to shuffle over, leaving a spare man on the wing. I felt a bit sorry for Shaw in that he had to come over to cover, but when he did, he was left looking stupid. But if he hadn't there would have been a channel right through the centre of the box.

Picking on individuals is difficult really after a performance like that yesterday. I mean where would you start?

"If Paul Pogba played like how Maguire played yesterday, pundits up and down would be gunning for his head."

Xenophobia is a big thing in England but no one is ready for that conversation.

British players simply don't get held to account the way foreign players do. For example, David Luiz with those Maguire performances vs Leicester and Liverpool could you even imagine the coverage right now?

You are only as good as your last game. If the manager was judged today on last term, no one would be calling for his head now. You really are daft.

As I said earlier, wait until we have an actual manager rather than a perpetual caretaker in charge and then judge the players.

You start with the captain, who was as bad as anyone. But not only that, the captain is there to get the troops going, did you see that from Maguire?

Just calling people daft and imbeciles isn't a replacement for good debate based on even a basic knowledge of the game, Scholay, you're a very poor poster.

'You're only as good as your last game' is a cliche that's bandied around, and probably picked up by people that watch all their football on TV and hear pundits using it. It doesn't replace proper analysis of how a player has played over the course of a season and the previous one and putting a bad game into that context. Or analysing why that player put in a bad performance as Elvis did above.

All I'm saying is that they were all awful yesterday (De Gea I suppose gets a pass) and that it's difficult to really judge an individual when everyone is bad. You would expect more from the captain though I suppose.

Agree Hoody. And let me elaborate on this positional thing with Shaw.

One of our posters, and I agree with him going by what we have seen over the last year or so thinks this is what is being coached. We also see it with AWB.

Maguire's not at his best since that injury. He shouldn't have played against Leicester, and I suspect the Varane injury coloured that call.

Like everyone he was utter shīte yesterday, but as has been the case for some years now, our issues at the back were less to do with individuals and more to do with how poorly drilled we are as a team, and how badly we defend as a unit.

Yesterday was a complete mess from front to back, and the defence were left to bear the brunt of it. Prime Rio and Vidic would have struggled in yesterday's side.

posted on 25/10/21

Maguire is always going to struggle against pace being a carthorse. The defence were all over the place. I can't believe Solskjaer had them playing out of the back against us. Not many teams try that. City can do it, few others.

AWB and Greenwood were all over the place to be fair. AWB kept pushing up to help Greenwood out when he didn't need it and leaving a man in behind. I think that we are lacking in leadership/experience down that wing and there didn't seem to be any communication. What we really need is a proper organiser in midfield. Does Rice do that at West Ham?

At least play Bailly who is fit. If we lose, we can always blame absence of maguhead

Ole has his favourites.-its his hill he will die on

I really didn't understand our approach to yesterday's game considering the opposition and our available personnel.
