Every time english man says about other county human rights makes me laugh. Do you know what English has done over the years in history or even in recent history like Iraq and arms deals with all kinda country. Why always lecture other country firstfix your own back yard then talk everyone else. Always be hypocritie when it comes to other country but never look at own….

Even in England now with rape cases and kidders women are not safe. Look even at church abuse for century on century but u want ledture whole world

Oh and do me a favour, write in proper English. You’re making my eyes bleed.

I know what some English people have done and i know what some English havent done, Over a million people protested in London against the UK going to Iraq.
And in hindsight it was a huge error..
And lets not discuss what happened 100s of years ago. Everyone involved have been dead for generations..

He’s apologised. Very strange

His apology doesn't make a huge amount of sense to be honest. It was delivered on his behalf by Cricket SA, and it had the classic heartstrings-tugger line about how it's upset his pregnant wife. And the explanation itself is kinda absurd - he didn't take the knee because he didn't like it being sprung on him last-minute?

It's not like he's being to run a facking marathon or let every black member of the team kick him in the nuts. He's literally been asked to kneel down for a bit. Even if he felt it was a bit much having it sprung on him last-minute, surely he must've realised he had two options: (1) do it, at literally no personal cost because it's not exactly a hardship - and then thrash out his unhappiness with CSA afterwards if he felt strongly about it - or (2) not do it, and be labelled a racist because how else are people going to perceive that?

It's kinda hard not to view him in an even worse light after this weird "apology." It just comes over as a big climb-down after he realised he'd facked up and his career was in jeopardy.

Put it this way:

If he's not racist, then having the decision sprung on him at the last minute doesn't really matter does it?

The only way the last-minute nature of the thing is important is if he's inherently opposed to taking the knee for some reason. So either he things it's a meaningless gesture (see: Zaha) or he's actually just a racist.

His apology didn't say "I think it's a meaningless gesture", so we can rule that one out. So...

Nah sounds like ballacks to me. Classic "I've got black mates so I can't be racist" line.

CSA should not force its players to take the knee, but bunking a game because of a gesture is selfish and ridiculous.

Can’t help thinking that the whole incident should never have happened. Poor form by CSA for not announcing their stance pre-tournament and poor form from de Kock for being childish and not realising that racism is more important than a petty disagreement ffs.

It seems to be if you dont submit your classed a racist.. You dont have to submit to something on the fear of being called a racist.. its disgusting and thats why he probably has issues

He should say so then.

Hes not allowed to is?? lots of footballers and cricketers feel the same. but they CANT say anything about it.

He comes from a mixed race family, so accusing him of being racist is comical.
Presumably he has been persuaded that the best way to minimise the abuse and save his international career is to apologise. I'm disappointed that other players haven't supported his right not to join in with theatrical political gestures. Only Michael Vaughan has stated the obvious that nobody should be pressured into taking the knee.
It used to be that making political statements at sports events was prohibited and rightly so. It's only a matter of time before a sportsperson demonstrates their support for a more controversial cause and all hell will break loose.

There's a few footballers who decided not to take the knee...including black players....where's the difference

I QdK has "apologised" I now see him in a different light...makes him look weak & stupid now, whereas prior I would defend his right to his actions

He’s clearly been forced into it to save his career, hence the untidiness of it,…

Fair play you do talk shiite. People like you are the problem. He didn’t say whatever it is that fits the narrative you wanted to hear, so you’ve decided he’s a racist.

You’re just another of those horrendous social media sheep, brainwashed into the ‘you’re either with us or against us’ mentality. I don’t like racism, but I have no desire to go on any marches or take the knee when I start work. My contribution will be not to be racist, the same as my whole life. Maybe De Kock thinks the same?

Agreed. He shouldn't have to say anything about anything other than cricket.
In fact I wish all sportsmen would keep their opinions to themselves, especially the ones who use victim politics to boost their own image but are then happy to play sport in the most repressive and corrupt countries.
The exception being someone like Marcus Rashford who actually does something meaningful to try and make a positive difference.

Previously, de Kock had 3 options: take the knee, raise a fist or stand to attention. He took none of the 3 options and instead stood with his hands behind his back.

But since he's apologised and it seems he is going to take the knee, let's move on.
