'haters' is a bit strong - it was more 'meh'.

I just thought it was boring, predictable, emotionally uninvolving and didn't think in terms of production, score or visual effects it was better than anything I have seen before.

Overall a very very good historical show of which i was very engaged with. Obviously it comes from fantastic source material in terms of historical fiction.

I cant rank it on the level of Rome but an extraordinary effort that got better as it went along

I shall offer my opinions tomorrow evening - I largely share your view, but I think season one is pretty damn ropey to the point I'd recommend to friends to skip it.
