Here's what's gonna happen.

Gerrard goes and claims it's cos he was given no transfer kitty and he paid for player out of his own pocket (according to the people liberation front of Govan)

McInnes is offered the job.

McInnes knocks it back again.

Big Mike reveals he is the funder of the Heaton bros.

Park says club1830 are never getting a seat at the table.

In revenge, King sells his shares to the Easdales.

Davidson gets offered the job but turns it down.

Sports Direct offer a replica 2014 Gazebo at £19.99.

Morelos declares he has an Irish ancestor and as he can't get a game for Colombia...

Murty is appointed interim manager

SFA investigate the improper registration of Lundstram because he was paid by Gerrard.

Rangers appoint an unknown fud from the J-league as manager.

JA crashes as users trawl back through the comments of July 2021.

Lundstram has never been paid since SG left.

Remarkably, Rangers extend their lead at the top to 15 points going into the split even though Celtic have a 30 goal better goal difference.

SFA announce that Lundstram was improperly registered by being paid by Gerrard and deduct 15 points.

Bears march on Hampden, Park appeals and gets the points deduction reduced to 5.

Remarkably, Rangers form collapses and Celtic win the league on goal difference despite Rangers beating Hearts 15-0 on the final day.

Beaton claim the seven penalties in the game were all stonewallers - Dermot Gallacher's opinion was none of them were.

UEFA dramatically announce a revamp of the CL in time for the following season to satisfy the breakaway super league clubs. Former winners are to be given life membership and guaranteed £100m a year.

Rangers appeal their points deduction to UEFA who side with the SFA and double the points deduction putting Dundee United into 2nd spot and the now automatic revamped CL spot along with £100m.

Park sells his biz to Arnold Clark to pay off all his debts.

Easdales reveal their sponsor and it's a familiar face.

No denial from me on this one. I have said as soon as this link came up it was a good opportunity for SG and I could see why he would go for it.

Its the reality of football. Folk move on.

Rangers really do need to have a replacement lined up though. If Gerrard takes all his backroom staff with him there isnt much there in terms of potential interim managers.

I cant really see David McCallum from the B team stepping up. That is already a development role for him.

Beyond that you are looking to maybe one of the players stepping up. Stevo Davis is maybe the obvious one?

Genuinely think he knows he's getting no money to spend in January and that Celtic are on the up again and will spend. As well as it may be a gamble him leaving....it's a big gamble him staying too, he loses the league this year and doesn't win a cup again then he may not get a chance again to go straight to a PL club. Rodgers wasn't silly, he knew it was the right time for him to go.

It looks more likely he will go, if he talks to Villa and doesn't go do the bears question his commitment considering he talked to Villa?

Wouldn't have thought so

Hamish. That's where our game is these days, Leicester & Villa seen as bigger jobs than Celtic and Rangers - crazy. As a Celtic fan i cant make my mind up if gerrard leaving is good or bad. Probably the disruption it would cause at a critical time makes it desirable.

If he leaves will be similar to Rodgers in that he’s still getting results but performances have clearly beendropping.

So if he did then hopefully whoever comes in gives us a similar boost to what Lennon gave youse before it goes tiits up…

Anyone that thinks Gerrard is staying at Gers for life is a bit of a mug.

His ultimate goal is the Liverpool managers job. He can either go directly from Rangers which is not impossible but is massively unlikely or he can go via another club as a stepping stone.

Villa are potentially a great stepping stone for Gerrard. so its not like he is flashing his kecks at a Norwich or a Brighton type club.

You can argue he has unfinished business at Rangers and that he will get more opportunities in the future. But the reality is that speaking to them is the sensible thing to do. See if he gets a positive feeling for the club and if their plans align with his.

Gerrard won the big one last season and we will be forever grateful for that.

If he goes he is leaving a good squad sitting top of the league, in a cup semi and with EL qualification a real possibility again.

He has done well but if now is his time to move on then so be it.

Expect him to be announced on Friday.

Ross Wilson isn't daft and has spoke openly about succession planning before, was what he did at Southampton and had already started on it at Rangers some time ago. Whether they get in who they want or how quickly is a different question as timing is probably as bad as it could be.

Ultimately however no hard feelings towards Gerrard, mission accomplished and leaves us in a good place. Not convinced it's the right job for him in terms of Liverpool but closer to his family, more money personally, better resources and elite environment. Taking the emotion out of it every one of us would do the same in terms of our job. There were signs it was starting to get stale and the end of the cycle was upon us, I just hoped it would be end of the season.

I really don't want him to go tbh

Im less concerned about him individually and more his team as a collective. He brought some very good people in to the club in roles that we probably couldn't have got if it wasn't for his connections and reputation.

If he goes and takes everyone with him it leaves us pretty short overnight.

I'm really not sure that it's a more attractive job than Newcastle though. So it's strange to me that he had zero interest in that.

Will be disappointed if he leaves but equally if he thinks it's the best route to Liverpool job fair play.

We were a mess and an absolute shambles when he took over. 55 looked a million miles away, 10 a certainty and Europe an embarrassment.

He (and his staff) have done a tremendous job.
