I hope Rooney stays and that the next announcement is of a new and stable ownership with a long-term plan. Assuming Rooney DOES stay he needs to clear out as many as possible of the players who won't be here next season and start to build the basis of a team that can compete in League 1.

We are desperate for a goal scorer!

Quite possibly! Rotherham had 18 points I think?

It’s not the hand we’re dealt, but how we play it xx

You can play a hand of Jack high any way you want, Cat, but you ain't gonna win! Still, we must make the best of it. No more than 25 players at any one time gives some scope for Rooney, as does the fact that a player only "counts" if he has started at least 3 games. That means unlimited bench action for Academy players, or at least it seems that way to me.

I assume that we are on 23 players at the moment, so are we able to do any "business" in January?

I hope Steve Gibson's perm catches fire.

Sorry to hear this news guys. As always it's the fans that suffer. Come and join us in League One. It's horrible

As long as we don't pay a transfer or loan fee then yes Jorvik, is how I understand it. Also if we have a clearout of players that won't be here next season that potentially frees up quite a few spots. But I read it that as soon as any given Academy player starts 3 league games he automatically becomes one of the 25 so that would also need to be considered. A player like Cashin might be one of those, or Williams. I can't remember if Jack has started 3 league games already or not but he would be another that Rooney would probably want to give a run a games to from now on. I think we might be surprised that some who could potentially move on stay with us. A player like Shinnie would be such an asset next season. We have plenty of talent in the kids but they will really need a bit of experience around them.

Will any of this change with the impending takeover Vidal?

Not the business plan for this season, no.

So next season will Derby be able to come out of any restrictions?

Thanks Vidal BTW

I'm not an expert, just trying to decipher the statement. I think that as of next season we are bound by the same rules as the other clubs.

Que sera sera 😊

At least now our new owners know what they are buying. Long term, that's far more important.

So could trade according to League 1 rules and P&S regs etc.

I think that is what is termed a self-evident truth, Scouse.
