I watch a documentary on conspiracy theorists and the like and it pointed out the vast majority thought they were more intelligent than most with a greater ability to see the bigger picture which is why they say things like 'WAKE UP' and 'SHEEPLE'.
However, the reality was that in the main they were actually less intelligent borderline sociopaths.
I'll see if I can find it.
Whenever I ask people to cite their sources and they actually provide them, I do make sure I read them with an open mind and tbh I can kinda see how people would be duped by some of them. They're often well written and based in facts, but the facts that they use are pretty much always irrelevant for the point they're trying to make and people either don't seem to have the critical thinking skills to figure that out or they just don't want to

Trying to debate with someone that is in that mindset is virtually impossible and will only lead to frustration on both sides. I don't think there is an answer really, other than raising the standards of education to a point where idiots are very much on the fringes and (like racists) are kept quiet out of shame.
Robbing, yeah I’ve read stuff about that before. There’s obviously some very intelligent conspiracy theorists, but by and large the community is on the lower end of the scale.
To further that, there’s obviously a lot of intellectuals and people within academia that do question certain issues within academic convention.
But that’s a bit different, and not a means of completely disregarding these conventions, unlike some absolute moron who is just stealing their arguments to further some daft conspiracy.
