I dont think that was on gerrards mind tbh he would have left anytime.

Its not about villa, its about what success at villa could bring him imo.

TBF Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester, Leeds - maybe Palace & Southampton too were his likely preferred options and you see the chances maybe don't come up again soon so totally reasonable he grabs it.

Their head has gone already; they’re planning what they’ll do when they get there; any downturn in performance and they would be permanently lambasted and abused. They’d be to blame for everything and anything that was perceived as wrong as soon as the announcement was made and why would players bother for a manager they know will be off in a matter of a few months.

Nah; anyone who wants away from the club and you know there’s no changing of mind should be punted there and then in my books and even easier if they have somewhere to go.

Absolutely, not saying he picked the moment, just that it wasn't the worst time to go at the start of an international break which gave us time to get a new man in place prior to any games being played
