I'll wager that those who sympathise with the protesters would feel very differently if they were stuck in an unnecessary traffic jam for hours preventing them from taking the kids to school, earning a living or getting somebody to hospital.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only people incapable of working out the reason for the protest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lmao ok your parent dying in the back of your car is fine if it's for the planet. Deluded.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a tough choice. Save your ancestor or save your descendants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're actually OK with it lmao the state of you mongs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you make up more scenarios for you to get angry about that haven't actually happened please?

Perhaps get emotional and write silly polarised things online for a change just to mix it up a bit?

TIA.

Unnecessary traffic jam.

Anybody supporting the actions (not the cause) of these idiots is utterly clueless.

Everybody should have a right to express their opinion, but not at the expense of the every day individual who has no bearing on the situation whatsoever.

Hope someone blocks the road out of prison on their release day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That won't hurt them. In fact, they'll probably join the road blockers and help them block the road.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Theyre spoiled middle class dickheads who have never faced adversity, 3 days in prison willl turn them into whimpering little beitches nevermind 3 months
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK mate. That's genius.

I'm amazed there are several people on here who are gen saying they wouldn't be annoyed at having to sit in a 5 hour traffic jam because of some silly protestors.

Absolutely fvcking that would be the case in reality

Someone was permanently paralysed as a result of IB blocking the road she was being driven to hospital on. So how about you read more, you stupid cvnt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was talking about you Ttliv. But yes a woman had a stroke and was paralysed and her son has blamed a traffic jam.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sad, but how do we know she wouldn't have been paralysed anyway? Not rare for these stories to be made up or forced.

Its taking 70 minutes for ambulances to arrive anyway and people are dying because of it as the Tories continue to destroy the country left, right and centre.

But yeah, lets get angry at the protesters trying to save the planet and lives and make excuses for our beloved Tories.

Do you think anything would change or you'd have even heard of them if they just stood outside parliament chanting all day?

Their methods might be extreme but that's what protesting is.

It's not exactly peacful protesting when it cost lives, is it?

I'm always annoyed when protesters disrupt my day or travel. In my life I've been inconvenienced by many protests. I get annoyed but I don't go about my life crying about those protesters.

There was this one time I was in Windhoek and there was a protest by women over women's rights. They blocked the road and I missed the seminar Iwas going to. Was I annoyed? Yes, but that doesn't mean I'd celebrate if they started throwing the women in prison.

Why? Because I have a brain.

They should apply to work for the roads department. That way they get paid for causing 5 hour traffic jams abd don’t have to show up or do any work ever.

I swear 95% of the time I drive past works on the motorway you don't see a single worker anywhere.

I understand a lot of them supposedly work during the night because its safer but as it happens I often tend to be on the roads in the early hours because of my workline, and I rarely see them then either.

Shouldn’t you be concentrating on the road ahead and not rubbernecking?

I fairness I don't think anyone should be shocked that people who are given every opportunity to stop pestering ordinary people end up in jail when they breech a legal injunction.

these people want the government to insulate their mansions. they don't seem to care that they could do this and save the money back over time themselves. they seem to state the government should insulate social housing and retrofit all private homes as well.

blocking roads will never get this. its pointless and they are lucky nobody has driven over any of them yet.

they are an offshoot of extinction rebellion who seem to think this will actually solve anything for the environment.

Actually what they really mean is they want free heating and such.

I have a lot of sympathy with the cause and the frustrations of not being listened to. I was also stuck in a traffic jam that I believe was a result of one of these protests and yeah, it p*ssed me right off in the moment. But I'm also capable of a bit of thought and perspective, so I put on some podcasts and sat it out.

But they needed to be punished sadly. Simply because if they weren't then this kind of civil disobedience would become more common and whilst most people are supportive of the cause in this case, I'm sure there are a lot of other causes that people would feel significantly less sympathetic about.

Punishing protest is a difficult pill to swallow in my opinion but not punishing this type of protest is more problematic.

There's also a clear difference between not supporting their actions and "celebrating them been thrown in prison" as you put it. Everyone agrees with the message they are trying to get across but there is a time and a place that doesn't cause more bad than good.

Pawl's point is definitely a valid one that if you were suffering at the hands of the protests, you'd likely feel different in how much you support them. In fact, I'd be certain of it, particularly if you had somewhere urgently important to be.
