I also think that anyone who claims that they never made comments or jokes at the age of 19 that wouldn't be OK by today's standards, are most likely being disingenuous.

Have you ever used the internet to be racist? I haven't. He must of felt comfortable enough to do it for the whole world to see. It looks like he's been institutionalised by his own beliefs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not deliberately. There is always a chance that anyone used a term that was common in that period but is unacceptable now though. If you dig deep enough, I imagine you'll find something on most people.
That's the thing with ignorance. At the time, you don't know you're ignorant. Some people probably still don't.

Am I in the minority that thinks saying something to your friend over the internet maybe is not as bigger issue as constant institutional racism in the work place enabled by the leadership of one of England biggest and oldest sporting groups is maybe not on the same level and not at all the point of the inquiry in the first place?
Or am I just misreading the quite amazing comments on here?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you hear that one of the people in the concentration camps during world war 2 made an anti Christian remark?? He is complaining that his people are being mistreated by the naazis and asking us to look into it. But I don't think we should now after he made those anti Christian comments.
People are actually using age as an excuse for this ffs. The guy was not a child when he made those comments. And you know he’s opened such a can of worms now that you won’t be surprised to see more anti Semitic comments attributed to him at a later age. The apology is a load of garbage, he wouldn’t have apologised if he wasn’t outed. And I don’t follow cricket and haven’t really followed this story but it seems like a lot of the abuse he suffered was very early in his career so clearly he knew what was right or wrong when making anti Semitic comments. It’s indefensible and yet some are trying to defend it as he too was a victim.
Most raaapists and murderers were victims themselves and younger ages but nobody uses that as an excuse for their crimes.
The wokies have made up so many things to fake outrage over that they don’t even know who and what they should defend anymore.

He didn't use a racial term. He was quite specific in lumping a group of people together. Not surprisingly that it's the Jews he's having a pop at because he's been brought up to believe they are the enemy by one of the biggest institutions of them all. What gets people's back up is that everyone knows that if he was in the majority and a couple of Jewish lads were in the team, he would be pulling exactly the same shiiit. Everybody with half a brain knows that the Yorkshire investigation is correct but any sob story from Rafiq will now, unfortunately, fall on deaf ears. He can't be the voice for it anymore.

You know exactly what I am on about. You have militants on both sides. You have the far left who think everything is fascist. You have the far right you think everything is 'woke' and part of a culture war.
People in the middle who try to apply nuance to things, then get caught being called things like wokesters by the GB News crowd like you and sympathisers by those on the left.
You are a classic example of a polarised idiot.
‘Keep peddling’ the GB News garbage as I’ve never watched it before, it’s not even broadcasted where I live.
And if I had far right views I wouldn’t be calling out the hypocrites for defending a blatant anti-Semite 🤷♂️

Knew the wokies comment would trigger people on herejust another word to be outraged about
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ironic, considering you were triggered enough to write three paragraphs to explain your outrage at 'wokies'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep clutching pal. It’s an undisputed fact that your fellow wokies would not be defending this guy had he not been a victim yourself. Which is why you’ve ignore my 3 paragraphs of facts and focused on being wound up about being a wokie. Undisputed fact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me and my fellow 'wokies'? What are you jabbering on about?
You keep to GB News, where you can pretend there are clearly defined sides to everything, that you are in a direct culture war and can keep peddling your 'undisputed facts'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😂😂😂😂
Pretend there are clearly defined sides? Yet I’m on the side that watches GB News (which I have never watched once in my life and don’t even know what it is). You wokies are hilarious. Contradicting yourselves one sentence after another

Gammon Brexit news, the place they cancelled one of their own presenters for taking the knee.
A place to right wing that Andrew Neil walked away aghast at the monster he created. I say monster, more like an embarrassingly inept shambling zombie.

People make me p!ss sometimes.
But what about!?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scary that their vote counts the same and there are more of them. We are facked. Or we could work out a way of manipulating their limited brains for good rather than bad. Without them knowing.

The only people that use ‘woke’ these days are the right wing loons who’ve stolen it and use it to describe anyone who doesn’t think asylum seekers should be nuked at sea or women should be paid equally to men.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For me woke means sticking rainbows and unicorns on police cars and using gaays and people of colour as a commodity. Not really doing anything of note to help out these communities but they're good for making a few quid.

You would if it detracts from institutionalised racism.
