Lingard

Should have been sold in the summer, I agree. I think it's pretty well that he only wanted to sign a new deal if he was playing regular football. That was never going to happen this season.

*Pretty well known

The BBC are saying he was offered a lower salary than his current deal, and he’s completely baffled why Dan James played in the Wolves match over him if we really wanted to keep him.

It’s a shame as he’s a better player than some people think but he’s gotta be a regular starter somewhere. I think he’d do a good job at a Spanish club. Or even back at West Ham.

We didn't have a 20-25m asset as no one offered that amount

Also Lingard rejected West Ham as due to family reasons he wanted to stay in Manchester

This is a non story

If he leaves in January then he won't be going for free will he

Yes thought it was reported that the player turned down a move rather than the club weren't willing to sell? Not sure what club can really do about that

He did.

It makes you laugh, people were offering to drive him to his next club before he had half a decent season at West ham.

Hope he gets a move. Would be bets for all parties I think.

I'll always have a soft spot for him, for that winning FA cup final goal. Hope he does well wherever he ends up.

The key point is whether the club really did give him assurances in the summer that he’d get games? If he didn’t then I’m sure he would have been far more likely to leave even with family issues as this season as been a waste for him with a WC coming in a year. If however we did give him reassurances then the club only have themselves to blame, sounds similar to VDB who we were told was given assurances of game time this season for it to not happen.

I still believe this was Jessie’s plan all along. Why sign for a new team when you can walk on a free. His last big pay day contract.
I really believed that’s the hand he played. He knew Ole wasn’t gonna start him, come on. He knew he was putting his World Cup at risk by staying.
Now he will have a year to impress Ole Southgate.
Fair play Jessie.
You will always be a Red. We know how much he loves UTD. Fly son, fly….

The club has made a right mess of this.

They should either have sold him last summer or Ole should have played him more often as he said he would.

You could be right that this was always Lingard’s plan unless he’s sold in January. But if he does go for free he’ll be getting a hefty signing on fee but he will also know that this plan will pretty much kill any chance of a WC spot, depends what’s more important to him I guess.

We could have received approx 75-80m for both Lingard and Pogba but instead we are going to receive feck all for both

As for Lingard sorry but he isn’t good enough. He has the odd moment but over the course of a longer period he isn’t top player. Never has he had consistency which is the reason why we should have got rid long ago.

According to Moyes, Ole told him Jesse wasn't for sale.

Would he play much for England under any realistic scenario? Genuine question, I don't usually watch international football

A massive signing on fee and bumper wage is probably far more attractive but who knows

Do you have a direct quote from Moyes on that.

Not necessarily played but had he replicated his West Ham form or even close to it this season at another club then I think he would have a very good chance of making the WC squad.

I think the chance to represent your country at a WC is huge and while a signing on fee is nice it’s not as if he’s reliant on it, but every player is different.

Pogba gets a lot of hate, some deservedly, but his and now lingards situation shows the mess we are in as a club.

Some fans will feel these players let the club down, me personally thinks these players see wasted years and no improvement any time soon. The club has let them down.

Why are we even in contract talks with a player that didn't play last season, was loaned out, and hasn't really played this season? It's just mental levels of incompetence.

He should have been sold in the summer off the back of his successful loan whilst his stock was high.

"No nothing like that at all," Moyes said when asked if Lingard has turned down an offer from the Hammers.

"Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] made it clear to me quite early in the transfer window that he wanted to keep him.

"So I knew pretty early in the transfer window that he was staying at Manchester United. I had a private conversation with Ole who made it clear that he was staying."

Honestly why would Lingard even take a new contract from United? We don’t play him and the offer is supposedly significantly less than what he’s currently on.

posted on 18/11/21

The only other scenario I got, is that maybe, him and Ole did have a positive chat, and that there was a plan he was happy with.
Then CR7 arrives last minute. We dash James, so maybe that gives him a bit of hope, but CR7 complicates matters suddenly.
And just like that, Jessie’s screwed. Now he’s had enough. Rashford is back.
There’s a rumour Donny might start to figure.
And like with most of them, they are dealing with the mental anguish of ‘I’m behind McFred’..l
Enough is enough.
Maybe it’s played out that way…

Lingard scored a stunning winner against West Ham and hasn’t started a single league game since. Just another example of terrible rotation of our squad.
