The Glazers didn't want the headaches from someone who'd challenge them daily, and Ronaldo I imagine wasn't keen on the idea of someone who wouldn't fit into the orbit around his ego. He would've been a success but I get why he wasn't approached - not even taking the p!ss, these are the circumstances in play.
Zidane seems like the best fit. Good relationships with all the key players + has the managerial CV & general name recognition to command respect of the others.

This makes sense and I wouldn't trust our board to think progressively enough to identify the next great manager like our competition seems to do. Zidane will bring in some real fear factor as well - which we need at the moment.
There was no way Ole could have been kept on for the rest of the season. Results just weren't good enough. Something had to change.
I don't know if the players had any influence but in his post mat h interview he mentioned about running out if legs. Couldn't help but think yes Ole what did you expect after letting everyone take a break. Should have used those weeks to do what he promised from the off. Better fitness and intensity

We shouldn’t have sacked Ole you muppet. What’s the point of an interim until end of season? Then another 2-3 years transitioning under another manager???
We’ve set ourselves back now. Should’ve kept Ole till end of year and then reviewed performance, trophies won etc.

We came third.
No, it shouldn't have been Conte.
I wanted him just because Ole was that bad and we needed immediate change.
But he was never going to be the right fit and I'm glad the club didn't rush him in.
Now we can have an experienced interim in place until the end of the season and properly bring in the right manager in the summer. And back him.
Can you imagine getting Conte in and him demanding we sign some oldie like vidal as a quick fit for midfield? Exactly the kind of nonsense this club has tried to get away from.

No, it shouldn't have been Conte.
I wanted him just because Ole was that bad and we needed immediate change.
But he was never going to be the right fit and I'm glad the club didn't rush him in.
Now we can have an experienced interim in place until the end of the season and properly bring in the right manager in the summer. And back him.
