It was a silly question. Poch could stay at PSG for the next 10 years and clean up with trophies.
-----------------

Well, not so far has he.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s already won one trophy and pretty much guaranteed the league this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The French Charity Shield is hardly a major trophy
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who said it was?

Our football in Jose’s first season was good football. Fachts.

…..

It was up until the turn of the year. Then it became the Jose football most of us knew it would. Our semi in the Europey, both games, just sucked the life out of football it was hard to enjoy winning the final.

I remember a lot of posters on here feeling flat after that.

Guidetti should have put us out of the Europa League in the last minute of the semi final with an open goal to shoot at, and Southampton were much better than us in the EFL final (seeds of not being able to control a game and relying on moments from a superstar were right there).

Shows the margins in football, Guidetti scores that one and De Gea makes a couple of saves last May and it's Ole that's won a European trophy for us, not Mourinho.

Not strictly true though. We dominated the first leg of that semi final and should have taken the tie 3/4-0 up into the OT game. Them missing one good chance doesn’t mean it invalidates the ‘deservedness’ of that Europa win, especially with a final so tactically perfect from Jose that it was quite easy compared to all our other European finals (bar 1968).

The issue with the Europa league final under Ole was that it went to penalties at all. We didn’t have a simple shot on target after our equaliser in the second half. Which was unforgivable with the amount of attacking players we had playing.

I know you've got your view and I've got mine, but the decline under Jose was happening by then, and too much of the stardust we all want was being provided by a superstar in Zlatan (sound familiar?)

Anyway, ancient history now, lets hope the next manager, whoever it is starts giving us something we can enjoy watching

You’re right, it is ancient history. Let’s hope the new manager does that 👍

--------------------------------------------

Mourinho and Ole's last full league campaigns are a good example of the fine margins in football because if results had been a truer reflection of performances in both cases we wouldn't have finished second in either of those seasons.

posted on 25/11/21

The performances were better in both of their first seasons. Yet people argued we got better, and then seemed surprised that we’d have such a sharp decline in the third.

The reality was that it wasn’t a sharp decline, it was a gradual one.

Lmao. Robb is arguing that our football was good under Jose. Yet so many can not stand him 3 years after he left. The difference in Oles football and Jose when he came felt like exorcising a demon

I watched PSG last night. I think Poch is completely at sea there. Rampant egos to the fore, and no discernible shape or style of play. I think he’d be a big risk for United.

The Manchester Arena bombing was around that time though, so everyone felt pretty flat anyway. I remember I didn't even go to a pub to watch the match, which seems crazy for a European final. Just didn't feel like it.

I think the first season under Jose was decent. Our league position wasn't great, but we drew a lot of games we should have won, and bagged two trophies.

That's as good as it got though 😔

Looks like they Rang Nick. I’m not sure if that’s as good an appointment as Favre, but let’s hope he’s still being brought in to prepare us for Ten Hag.

posted on 25/11/21

It may well have more of a wider impact, even though he might not be a better coach than Favre so in that respect, it could be a better move.

I'm actually quite excited by this.
