better forwards always earn far far more in this case one of the best forwards in the world earns almost 5 time what one of the best defenders does

Nobody is arguing that attackers are paid more than defenders on average. The point is that few professional footballers sign up to bonus based salaries and it is not starting anytime soon because it is bollix.

depends on what the bonus' are set for .... doesnt just hve to be goals, assists, pass percentages, tackles, possession stats. Break it right down, bonus amounts can change dependent on positions they play.
Bonus' can be uncapped but the basic wage capped still.

I get it - Rangers signed Lunstram and in the eyes of certain fans he instantly became pash and worthless the second he signed for us.
And despite playing pretty regularly in the Prem for a couple of years nobody wanted to sign him except daft old Rangers.

Shocking for some fans to get their head round i know - but Rangers is a big draw to some players.
Sure a few Championship teams could rustle up the £25k a week but if he had made up his mind to join the mighty Gers rather than say a Middlesborough or West Brom then its understandable.
And at the same time, if it doesnt work out there will be plenty of teams who remembered his good work for Sheff Utd. And its far from inconceivable that they would pay a couple of million quid for him even if he didnt nail down a regular place in Gios table toppers.

They should do what Jim McLean did.
Give them a pittance of a basic and load up on win bonuses. For some of them, being in the team was the difference between paying the bills or not

passing percentages, tackles won, games won, appearance fees, clean sheets, goals, assists, ground covered. Not all bonus would apply to all positions and there would be a lot more.

they still pas the ball, they still help win games. It would mean they may very well earn les than the forwards but thats always bene the case. also defenders can get 70k for a goal compared to a forwards 30k for eg.
Player need to deal with loads of mental barriers this would be no different, btter players make better decisions.

I could see a lot if players taking shots in hope of getting bonuses instead of passing to a teammate who has a better chance if scoring.

depends on what the bonus' are set for .... doesnt just hve to be goals, assists, pass percentages, tackles, possession stats. Break it right down, bonus amounts can change dependent on positions they play.
Bonus' can be uncapped but the basic wage capped still.

I get it - Rangers signed Lunstram and in the eyes of certain fans he instantly became pash and worthless the second he signed for us.
And despite playing pretty regularly in the Prem for a couple of years nobody wanted to sign him except daft old Rangers.
And no championship team would want to sign a 27 year old player with decent EPL experience for a couple of mill.

Ross Wilson stated when we signed him that 'there was a lot of competition for his signature'. So either he is lying or the assertion that no-one else wanted to sign him is pash.
Sometimes players like that idea of coming to the OF, playing in front of 50k, having a chance of the CL and in Lunstrams case playing for his idol Stevie G in OF games.
Shocking for some fans to get their head round i know - but Rangers is a big draw to some players.
Sure a few Championship teams could rustle up the £25k a week but if he had made up his mind to join the mighty Gers rather than say a Middlesborough or West Brom then its understandable.
And at the same time, if it doesnt work out there will be plenty of teams who remembered his good work for Sheff Utd. And its far from inconceivable that they would pay a couple of million quid for him even if he didnt nail down a regular place in Gios table toppers.

They should do what Jim McLean did.
Give them a pittance of a basic and load up on win bonuses. For some of them, being in the team was the difference between paying the bills or not
And then fine them for trivial things so the club didn't need to spend too much when it was doing well

Wasn’t convinced when we signed him, and although he had a good run still not convinced. May suit the 4231 more though.

He has a lot of good attributes and good experience.

I am really not sure he is mobile enough or technical enough for Gio though.
