Wolves results are not too bad but are quite mixed.

Having not watched too many the context behind those results is missing for me so perhaps wolves fans fan say why
Leicester 0-1
Spurs 0-1
Man utd 0-1
Watford 2-0
Brentford 0-2
Southampton 1-0
Newcastle 2-1
Villa 3-2
Leeds 1-1
Everton 2-1
Palace 0-2
West ham 1-0
Norwich 0-0
Burnley 0-0

It seems to me wolves have not met a top 6 side since Man utd in august.

the results suggest a decent defensive record but a general lack of goals.

1 goal in last 4 games? but only 2 conceded?

Quick correction - we beat West Ham who are 4th and were at the time.

However, overall we almost certainly are in a false position, we certainly aren't the 6th best side at the moment. I sort of discount the first 3 games, each of which we last 1-0 but were, in my opinion the better side.

Never-the-less, there have been too many games when we have been second best against sides who we would have expected to do better, not least the most recent two. There have been a few highlights - Villa, Everton, West Ham.

Most Wolves supporters on this board expect us to finish somewhere between 8th and 10th. I would be happy with 7th, our best PL finish to date.

3-0 Liverpool is my prediction - if it was Spurs at home to Liverpool at the weekend I would also be predicting 3-0 Liverpool - they are miles better than both teams currently

Difficult to see anything but an away win here. Liverpool seem to be playing as well now as when they won the league a couple of years ago, and just at the moment I would say they are in stronger form than City and Chelsea. Salah is justifiably being considered as one of the best players in the world right now. And I still think his performance at Molineux two seasons ago was the best I’ve seen from any visiting player since we returned to the top flight.

One of my criticisms of Nuno was that he played Jota too deep and we often saw him running at defences from deep from similar positions to Neto and Traore. I always thought he was at his best for Wolves playing close to Jimenez. Now Liverpool are playing him in the front line and are reaping the benefits.

Wolves will be stronger for this game with the return of Neves.

It was last Friday that Podence tested positive for covid. I thought the isolation period was ten days but if he posts a negative test maybe that frees him up. With Marcal ruled out, difficult to see any other changes we might make. So it’s just hoping the defence holds firm and the attacking players raise their game.

Liverpool wont have 11 men behind the ball like Burnley did last night that's for sure, so if we can get a bit of possession I quite fancy us to score at least one. And of course we wont make it easy for them at the other end but they are in incredible form at the moment and wont take us lightly I'm sure. I thought two seasons ago we gave them a decent run for their money, criminally robbed of a point maybe all three at Anfield by VAR and playing really well at home before. great equaliser from Jimenez before Firmino got the winner towards the end. I recall Salah pulling our defense all over the place at the North bank end a few times but we kept him out that time.

It was strange last night that Burnley during the course of the game used Wood, Cornet, Vydra, Rodrigues and Lennon. All attackers yet they showed no real inclination to get the ball in our half.

Hadn’t realised until just that former Wolves man Will Norris was their goalkeeping sub

Strangely Burnley, like us had 2 goalkeeper subs - both ex Wolves, Hennessey and Norris.

On the Wolves bench, Trincao was the oldest of the outfield players at 21, all the others were teenagers

I know there’s a lot of fans of Womens football on this forum so they’ll be delighted to know that England will play Germany at Molineux on Feb 23rd

Sad story emerging about our former striker Bright Enobakhare. He left Wolves after a few loans where he did best at Coventry. Then he signed for AEK Athens who ended up sacking him after just one appearance. He then had a short spell playing for Bengal in India before getting his big chance back at Coventry with a two year contract. But three months on and Cov have sacked him. Manager Mark Robins described him as a free spirit which I think roughly translates into

No, a bit of a nob actually

Real shame about Enobakhare, he did look like he had the talent to make a good career in the game. Makes you wonder what other "free spirits" of the past wouldnt be tolerated in today's ultra professional game.

Best? Gascoigne?

Wolves U23s are at home again tonight against Fulham after being thrashed at home by Norwich on Monday. Guess it will be a very inexperienced team they send out as a few of the better players like Cundle and Campbell will probably be on the bench against Liverpool tomorrow. In fact Cundle is now training full time with the first team. Suspect another home defeat is on the cards tonight against a Fulham U23 team that are top of the league

This weekend is the 2nd round of the FA Cup which means on Monday we’ll find out who we meet in the 3rd Round on the weekend of Jan 8th. The 2nd round match between Boreham Wood and St Albans is being shown live on ITV4 on Monday evening and the draw will take place on that programme with Wolves being number 44

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes indeed Wulfrun, I wonder though how many others with slightly less talent ended up on the scrap heap . I guess a clubs tolerance is directly proportional to the players talent and potential, so if you're a Best or a Gascoigne you can get a way with a fair bit but if you're Brian Laws, Roger Johnson or Eno there's a bit more of a limit.

From what I’ve picked up from Coventry it seemed Bright wasn’t interested in fitting into the playing style chosen by the manager, he wanted to go out and play his own game. If you’re Best or Gascogne maybe the manager would give you a free role. But Bright just ain’t that good and it’s not going to be good for the team to have 10 playing to a plan and one doing what he fancies
