Nice win for Ronnie, not perfect but good enough

Not a good tournament so far for the so-called youngsters. Williams, Higgins and Ronnie all played 3 younger players and won quite comfortably.

Is Brecel in this tournament?

posted on 11/1/22

Brecel isn't unfortunately. The cut off for top 16 for the Masters was the UK championship and he was 17th at the end of the tournament.

Oh that’s a shame

If Ronnie wins this week it will no doubt be a career highlight, he'll have to beat, Lisowski, Robbo, Probably Higgins then probably Selby or Trump... That's why it's the Masters I guess.

Trump will beat Allen, is Allen ok mentally atm? Who knows...

Not sure how Allen is at the moment to be honest.
Selby vs Maguire now should be interesting.

Maguire can be a world beater... Or be shocking. Hope he's a world beater tonight

Selby 2-1

It’s been an atrocious watch

Maguire really should have won that 3rd frame.

He always struggles against Barry, never in doubt tonight for me

Higgins & Williams both got through before Ronnie, yet they play Thursday evening.... 🤬 Ridiculous..... No doubt that semi will be Saturday afternoon as well

posted on 12/1/22

Yep the scheduling is a little bit odd, the better matches so far seem to have been on during the afternoons. Although Thursday both matches are mouth watering.

Yes agreed about both matches, although I think John is a big favourite in that match

1-1 hi quality so far... C'mon Mark....

I would like to see the Masters extended to the top 32.

It always feels wrong to me that you only have to win one game to reach the quarter final.

It's not a ranking event, so It doesn't really matter

Maybe not but the prize money matters.

3-3, Judd just not been able to pull away which is annoying.

Masters has that elite level, no easy matches tradition. So extending to 32 might take something away from that.

However, remember before there used to be 2 qualifier matches with one wildcard. That was a pretty cool concept and allowed a 16 year old Ding to compete in 2004.

Not sure if they still do that.

Never realised Allen had such a good record against Judd. I mean it’s pretty even but I always assumed Judd to be way ahead.

Judd always struggles against Allen. He's his bogey player. Not really sure why to be honest as he is a player you'd expect Judd to beat more often that not.
