Why wouldn't our best midfielder (and real captain) not come straight back in. Especially when his partner has been absolutely awful, and should be dropped.

Xhaka shouldn't be starting games yet and Partey's looking almost as off the pace as he is. I'd rather be seeing Ains and Sambi start they've at least kept up with the pace of play all season.

Plus I think Xhaka would rather not be being thrown to the Emirates wolves having to start, I'm sure nobody knows better than him how far he is from match fitness. And Partey getting benched for two youngsters who bust their butts all game and play well doing it. Might just get a fire lit under his ass and pick his form up as a result.

Maybe when they stop needing the other team to be a poorly playing mess of a weaker team who we're supposed to thump when they're at full strength. Xhaka done well and I'm thankful for him that Saints were terrible so he got a well deserved (since the manager fecked him) easy day of it.

Against a quality side or even just an in form, at its Saints we go one down when we went one up. Grateful for the result given our shocking GD but don't let the result confuse you. Saints were terrible in all areas of the pitch.

Thought Xhaka was poor in the first half and ok in the second.

And people still defend him?

He gets caught on the ball so often due to lack of speed/mobility. I know I'm stating the obvious there but it's not a good kind of obvious, it's also obvious to opposition players which makes him a target for pressing which he often succumbs to.

I do like his left foot pass with slight inside curl to Tierney down the line but that's about it, that's the string to his bow in this team because he's left footed.

I'd still rather we continue with Sambi.
