Double demin is only acceptable if you are going to a Status Quo concert.

I'm going to regret this comment when this article goes on for days and days in an argument between Terminator and VC...

Never said there was. I've been to see them before. Was the youngest person there and about the only one not in double demin.

Yes, but I think the question might be more along the lines of: why did so many choose what they did? Or even: why give such a choice in the first place?

Should the vote have been one where you’d need at least 60% leave to make it happen?

Agree with this, it’s 2021 and people are still saying it’s wrong to be a lesbian.

I think one could argue that it is evidence that some people don't have the competence for the gift of democracy

I think any such figure would be arbitrary. A win is a win.

A phased referendum would have made more sense, i.e. at least one other when the ‘deal’ was fleshed out.

The choice was given to stop Tory in fighting and losses to UKIP.

Most people who voted for it were sold a lie. The leave campaign successful sold the UK governments failures as that of the EU for the most part. I'm pretty sure if the referendum was run again now the reality is setting in, remain would probably win.

I thought that (the point about Remain winning a second one) back in 2019 but I’ve since had a rethink. Even now, I’m not so sure.

Though it was only 52:48 and there will definitely be some leavers who would now vote to remain, while I can’t believe anyone has crossed the other way.

Why did people vote for Brexit….because such is the state of politics, nobody knew what they were voting for. Stay campaign were as bad as leave.

Why were they given a choice….well brexit won, so clearly there was an appetite for the nation to leave.

The EU is a flawed system, much as the idea is great.

Of course it did. The EU were busy arguing over who gets the vaccines and bad mouthing the AZ vaccine whilst we were getting the nation vaccinated.

Short memories folk have.

I know some people who voted Leave who now complain about Brexit and say they regret. I don't know anyone who voted remain that would switch sides.

Anecdotal of course, but I imagine it is a pattern across the country. Too late now though. I imagine if we ever re-joined it would be on worse terms than we previously had.
