The problem is, fans see a 7th place finish, and just see 1 more place to a top six, or 3 places to a top 4. They fail to see, the higher we are trying to compete, the more difficult it becomes.

Bringing in the quality to compete in the Championship, was much easier to identify and afford. than challenging the higher teams in the Prem.

frankly sums up the ridiculous hopes "Fans" put on new signings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well he was clearly a target that the club wanted to sign, a player that would have given us another creative midfield option, but yeah you clearly prefer we keep flogging Moutinho to death.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A target maybe, but I prefer making a deal that is right for the club. That includes many things, not least of which is fitness. But also fee and wages etc. I am all for making signings. When the deal is there to be made, if not, I absolutely would prefer Wolves to walk away.

Honestly, if some fans on here were in charge of signings, Wolves would be in a right blooming mess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair i think all of us would have walked away the minute 35 million was mentioned for Fabio Silva. Alas the club did not. #fansknow

Many fans baulked at the money spent on Jiminez.

But what do fans know eh?

Silva was a calculated gamble. time will tell how it pans out.

Silva was reckless, regardless of what happens two or three years from now.

Your opinion Cinci.

Amiga you go on about sensible signings and being careful with money then try and argue a case for Silva.
If he doesn't make it we will get nothing for him.

Yes we have done well on transfers if you ignore the failures and I know that money does not necessarily buy success, however not buying can only lead to lead to failure.

DJ is right about getting rid of Dalrymple and Thelwell
and not getting anyone else in and that has made it harder to get our targets or to identify what we need.

I believe we need at least two players ( for sensible money) at least
in this window to keep the momentum going.

The point I'm making Cinci. what I make of the Silva signing is irrelevant. right or wrong, a decision was made. if you were in charge, a different decision may have been made. It doesn't mean yours would be the right one.

But at least you now acknowledge, overall, our transfer business has been decent enough. So not the transfer window disasters some have made them out to be.

But what is "sensible money"? For a club like Wolves in today's market I would think 2 players (say 1 CB and 1 MF) would be something in the region of £30-40m.

Is that sensible? Would we get the players most on here want for that? Maybe.

Of course, we could buy 2 players for £5m each and unearth two Neves's and Boly's.

Or of course we could spend £35m on one player and get another Silva.

That's why it's not an exact science.

Exactly.
