Boxing Day game not on TV

It's on Prime.

Well that article was a bust then! I've been looking around and have seen no mention of that at all.

This nonsense needs to be legislated against with the whole package being won by a single provider and a cap on the costs to the public. Fans in England get royally shafted when it comes to watching football on tv

I'd go as far as to say that this rule not to screen 3pm kick offs needs to be scrapped. I think there are enough fans to fill stadia even with those game being screened (or a subset of them). The way games are spread out across the week, to stop the broadcast specifically of games on Sat at 3pm is nonsense. And to think that those games are broadcast across the world except here makes it even more ridiculous.

It's not, that's the midweek games when all 10 are on.

Only 3 games on TV (UK) on Boxing Day.

Yep you're right. One on BT and two on Sky Sports.

I don't really get the point of the OP though. There is football on TV on Boxing Day.

This is about Arsenal on the Arsenal page... our game isn't being shown. What are you not getting?

Not every game's shown live every Boxing Day, so what's changed?

Why does the Arsenal game need to be shown? They never show every game on TV.

I thought the point of it was to encourage people to attend lower league games locally, as opposed to just watching PL football on the telly? Of course most PL teams will be able to fill their stadium, but most lower league teams generally struggle to do so.

Not saying this is the sole reason, just that I remember it being talked about when I last saw this point made.

Bit of a weird rant. Not like every single arsenal have is on tv anyway. Plus Norwich Arsenal isn’t exactly a stand out Boxing Day game so not really a surprise it’s not on

Ironically it is down to the EU, who insisted that "for fairness" the coverage is not dominated by one provider.

The result is that 3 providers now deliver it and you realistically need to spend about £140-150 a month to see it all.

Rant is a bit of an exaggeration. This is a forum, I had something to say so I said it. Do I think it's a massive conspiracy? No. I just enjoy supporting my team and don't only do so because when it's against opponents better than Norwich.

The logic is if 3pm kick offs were televised, people would be more inclined to watch than go watch their local teams, which would screw over the lower league clubs.

The only solution I can think of is to have PL played on different days or times to the FL. Pretty sure this is the way in places like Spain, Italy, Germany, etc

Yes, that's true. Still not sure about that correlation but also, technology and fanbase being what it is now, more games (incl. lower league ones) can be shown if need be. We aren't as restricted as we were when this decision was made.

You did. Apparently, its 'depriving you of your staple' and its a 'travesty' its not on.

I'd say you were in a minority thinking its a travesty Arsenal v Norwich isn't on TV to be honest.

Play the games behind closed doors, then all will be televised again
