Yeah actually agree with him. It’s not just the 2 cup comps but the increase in international football and tournaments means players rarely get a break.

This annoyed me I have to say. The blokes been here for 5 minutes yet wants to make sweep changes - particularly annoying as the world and his wife know that he won’t be here next summer

If he don’t like it he can fack off back to the Fatherland the bratwurst sucking, lederhosen wearing, humourless German tosspot.

ffs. Isn’t about the right time for a Bobby charlton rant ace?

I’d scrap one of the cups too.

He could well be in some capacity with Utd, manager? perhaps not but possibly upstairs?

Considering how much Klopp has moaned about this stuff, I'm not sure we can make too much of a deal about anyone moaning about too many fixtures.

In fairness, at least Jurgen has been here over a month and has managed Liverpool for more than 3 games.

Why should we scrap one of the cups, all that does is benefit the sides that are in Europe, what about the rest?

Birmingham, Luton, Swansea, Swindon - these sides have all had magical moments in the league cup, why shouldn’t others in the future.

If the European sides want to not participate then fair enough, but Pep has always liked this comp, Spurs and Chelsea often go deep in it, and the smaller non Prem sides get a big pay day

You’re only against it because it’s the only thing Spurs have won in 30 years

It’s not definite and even if he does stay, he has been here 5 minutes and is talking about scrapping a competition that he has never taken part in - it’s like Sean Dyche suggesting cutting the CL group stage down to 3 teams rather than 4

Perhaps but football manager gives opinion on something shocker? will not happen but having an opinion no matter how long you have been here is surely not a pant wetting sin like some others here are making out?

We won the FA cup in 1991 - so you technically incorrect.

However, I am against it because England has by far the most competitive league in the world and a third domestic trophy keeps more teams in with a shout of glory - including Spurs.

If we want to reduce the amount of football why not just change all European competition back to 2 legged knockouts - it would make it more interesting also

What about the children?

Think he was directly asked about fixture congestion and what could be done, he only said it’s something that could be discussed not “we should definitely scrap the cup”.

Plus, half the time you look at the actual early stages and the smaller sides in the Championship and below that have league positions/relegation positions to fight for are just as bad as the ‘big’ clubs for fielding hugely weakened sides.

There are probably blokes out there who play 3 games on a weekend for their local team. 3 games in 8 days should not be a problem for an elite "athlete". In those circumstances training sessions in between matches are not necessary unless they are purely tactical.
They don't even have to clean their own boots and take their turn at washing the team's kit.

Not going to happen. The clubs in the comp would lose millions as a result. The League Cup doesn’t generate that much revenue for the top clubs.

Plus you’d sooner watch Spurs against Port Vale in the LC than Spurs against the best clubs in Europe in the CL?

posted on 24/12/21

It should be opt in for PL clubs for the league cup. So it stays open for all the other teams.

The real stupidity of course being FIFA now seriously considering making the World Cup every two years - that will help

I would rather watch us in a decent knockout game than a group stage dead rubber.

Maybe reporters shouldn’t ask managers opinions on stuff just in case it doesn’t fall in line with pant wetting Internet forum users

I like to wear dead rubber in the bedroom.

Don't judge me.

Not all group games are dead rubbers though. Imagine not having moments like Gerrard against Olympiakos in the last group game in 05 for example.

I’m my early 20’s I played Saturday and Sunday - mostly 90 mins. Power league on Wednesday, 3 x football practice on a Tuesday, and on the pizz on a Friday. This on top of a fairly demanding job and because I lived on my own - house work and eating like a student. I never felt tired before or during a match - and I played CM and the Saturday was a county wide standard, Sunday was dog chit standard.

I’ve never understood players “tiredness” - the manager could make training less intensive if necessary
