I wouldn't let Rodrigo go. He's not been worth his transfer but has moments of quality and covers 8, 10, striker (albeit some more than ever). We can't afford to let anyone go really. We're full of injuries and concerns.
It's soul destroying seeing 8 or 9 academy kids on the bench most games. That's not knocking their ability, but you want someone proven there to trust to make a difference

Yorke, if we had to sell someone, to raise some funds, I would say Rodrigo is best bet.
The only others who might command some sort of fee are Philips, Raphinha, Meslier, Bamford, Harrison...every other player we'd get peanuts for.
I'm not sure how much we would get for him mate. But I get your point
Think we could get a bit for Llorente and Struijk.
Agree with Yorkie. I'd say we need to sign someone before anyone leaves.

so would you sell one of those two ahead of Rodrigo if you needed to raise fund this Jan?
Can’t see anything of significance happening this window to be honest. If we get players back from this short break, think we’ll be alright but could get very messy. Too much uncertainty to be spending risky sums with limited players out there this time of the year.
Do expect Raphinna or Philips to move at the end of the season though.
Interesting comment by Klopp over the weekend.
Liverpool and other clubs are avoiding signing players
who are unvaccinated. Saying the added risk of those
players not being available due to COVID is too high.
It adds another layer to what is a difficult window.
When talking about selling players, we have to think about which ones will anyone want to buy.
If we could get anything close to what we paid for him Rodrigo would be one we could let go. Realistically though has he done anything for us which would have clubs wanting to bid for him?
It is far more likely we will get clubs sniffing around our prize assets like Raph. Philips being on longish term injury might prevent anyone coming in for him until the summer.
As with most businesses you wishing to sell requires having something someone else wants to buy

Feel the same, it's Rodrigo I would let go, but I think we'd be lucky to get 15 for him.
Last season, you could have gotten good money for Ayling, Dallas and maybe Cooper and Klich. This year their values are not the same and as you say, not sure the demand is there now due to this season's performances.
I have no problem with us selling one of top tier players per season as long as we're seeing proper replacements.
In AR interview he said revenues gone from 36mill to 200mill. It's hard to understand where all that money has gone exactly.
The fact that we spent £25m for James may well bite us in the backside come May…. £15m was / should have been his top value. That decision is directly impacting this window now given there’s talk of selling before buying
I'll maintain, if we do nothing this window regards players
coming in, then the club will be in a very dicey spot the
rest of the season. With the odds against us.
Whatever the club do decide to do (because it'll be
squarely on them). No one else or COVID. I hope they
live with it. And don't trot out a bunch of excuses if we
fail. They've had ample warning and time to fix it.
If you see james acquisition as an advance replacement for Raphinha leaving them James makes sense, otherwise it was a waste of money.
Agree with Jonny. Nothing happening January unless we loan someone in.
Again agree if I could lose one player to fund something else it would be Rodrigo before he’s worth nothing!
Jonty, James was a waste of 10 mill regardless of the situation or any foresight. And I like him as a player.

I just dont see enough end product from him and dont see him get to use his pace as I'd hoped we might.

Very true. With our slow build up, side to side, back to half way, then up the other wing etc there is no opportunity for him to use his pace. The opponents defence are all well set and able to double up on James or Raph or Harrison to snuff out danger.
Last season we scored quite a few breakaway/counter attack goals I seem to recall. Not so many of those this season.

Yep and they relied on creative passing, seem to remember Pablo setting Harrison on his way and remember Alioski pass for Dallas v Man City.
I think I've yet to see James in a straight race with a defender.
I like James, but as yet he’s not proved to be significantly better than Costa. I agree that we paid 10m more than we should have.
